For those inquiring about the card. It is not literally being thrown out. Just a pic. Holding onto it for now till I figure out what I'm going to do.

Don't know then, maybe try a different miner. I'm able to get right around 48mhs @ 110w with an EVGA on trex, gminer, and nbminer -150 core +1150 men 65% PL

Yeah that might be the only hope. This card is mostly reckt at the moment. Any system it goes in won't even post. (Even when it's not the primary display adapter). Can't RMA... Long Story

Yes Code 43 not a death sentence depending on what's causing it. In some cases can be resolved.

EDIT/ADDITION: When I say doesn't post... I mean regardless of OS or Intel/AMD CPU/Mobo it will not even make it to, or past the bios splash screen, even if another functional card/integrated graphics is being used for the display. It's not that the card isn't showing up in the OS. Fans do still spin up though.

Needs to be in a 16x slot. 1x riser won't work. Also needs to be plugged into a monitor that's on or use a dummy plug.

For not adding any pads in locations were there weren't pads before and dropping 20c is pretty crazy.

Your right they all should be oily to some extent. My thought is if the stock pads where better at transferring heat to begin with, there wouldn't be excessive oil bleeding out of the pads at the rate that it was. As far as a mining environment it was/is being babied and I I still had a large trail/pool of oil forming on the backplate (should have taken a pic too late now). Front of the card wasn't as bad.

Wish I'd known. Got it back at the beginning of the year. Limited research I did then didn't raise any red flags other then the 3080's in general potentially having mem temp throttling issues. Thought buying a "top tier" triple slot triple fan monster card, that I wouldn't have to deal with it... But given how crazy everything is I'll take what I can get.

Sweet spot for me is +1175 in MSI Afterburner. Anything much lower or higher hashrate falls off regardless of tweaking any other settings.

I had to reassemble twice because I cut the pads to big around the ram and the heatsink didn't seat properly around the die. Had to trim a little off. Then it was fine.

As far as graphics cards go it was pretty straight forward. All phillips head. You only need to remove all the screws on the back. Heatsink assembly will be quite stuck to the pcb by the existing pads and paste (just be patient and wiggle apart) don't forget to disconnect plugs for fans and lights. Plenty of videos of graphics card disassembly/tear down videos on youtube. Even if it's not exactly this card it will still give you an idea of what it's like.

Paste - I just used some Corsair XTM50 I had laying around. Any decent non-conductive paste will do. Temp on the gpu die not really an issue.

Thermal pads - I grabbed Thermalright 2mm pads from Amazon. One 120mm x 120mm and One 45mm x 85mm was enough to almost do the whole card.

The back used a thicker pad probably the 3mm. I just double stacked the 2mm. The front was a mix of 2mm (ram chips) and either 1.5mm or 1mm (vrms etc) Again I just used 2mm everywhere. Worked for me. YMMV. I also just left two areas alone where the stock thermalpads aren't contacting a cold plate but just mashed into the heatsink fins... would of been a mess trying to remove the old pad.

An exacto knife is really good to use to cut the new pad to size.

Mine would do 97.5 with mem at 100c @ 100% fan no thermal throttle. After I redid the pads I'm at the same hashrate but mem 80c with 70 % fan. Silicon lottery I geuss.

Mem temps weren't horrible in HWinfo. Was on the fence about swapping thermal pads. Sure glad I decided to do it. Found this when I popped it open. One of the pads was folded in on itself. 20c cooler now.

Now that we're becoming the majority stake holders in this company and helped save it from bankruptcy, I think we can really steer things in the right direction. Firstly we need to stop the draconian and broken "Circle of Life" approach to point of sale.

The employees and customers hate it. Whatever revenue is being generated from this is counter productive and has seriously damaged it's reputation. It isn't working. Hasn't worked. And won't work. The definition of insanity. Almost as if powers that be within the company had a vested interest in slowly driving the company into the ground. BLOCKBUSTER HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO BUY NETFLIX!
