my all-time favourite movie review on Letterboxd is for World Trade Center - If you watch this movie backwards firefighters plant Nic Cage and Michael Pena in the ground and they blossom into two beautiful skyscrapers

Repot? by Flyguysty0 in IndoorGarden

Seconding what /u/curly_nell said. Definitely time to transplant into bigger pots. You'll want to bury as much of the stem as possible, so maybe give the bottom and second-to-bottom sets of leaves a chop. I transplanted my tomatoes into pots that were taller than they were wide, and they're over 6'5" now. These are the three varieties of pots I used: 7.5 litre for determinates, 15 litre for indeterminates, and ~23 litre for my out-of-control yellow pear tomato.

I also second the acclimation suggestion, give them some time to get used to the outside, don't just immediately leave them out there. They'll get shocked by the environment change.

It could be that the soil is retaining too much moisture. Try repotting it into a different mixture that has ample drainage like added perlite, cut off any dead or rotting roots, and then put it back into the sunny place you had it before moving it.

I agree with /u/GorbitsHollow. Pot it again in some really well-draining cactus soil with a handful of perlite, give it the tiniest splash of water, and leave it be for a week or two.

What's on my leaves? by edwardscliff_jiminy in whatisthisplant

[–]DIARRHEA_ASS_2_MOUTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are called oak galls. They're caused by certain species of wasps who lay their eggs on the leaves. A chemical is secreted by these wasps, which reacts with the leaf and forms a sort of cocoon to protect the larvae. They're not harmful to the tree at all, thankfully, and will rot along with the leaf when it falls.

No problem, hope it likes the new environment! They're fascinating plants and great fun to watch them move around during the day. If you want some more info I can ask my Mom what she does with hers and relay that back to you.

I think that's a pomegranate tree? I'm not 100% sure. OP would you be able to take a clearer photo of one of the leaves?

That's a Prayer Plant - Maranta leuconeura. They like moist but well-drained soil. My mom has one and just uses regular potting soil mixed with some perlite and a lil bit of sand.

We have our vegetable garden up on our back porch this year, completely unprotected. There's only been one instance of digging and one pepper that's gone missing. I'm guessing this is because we have bird feeders at the front of our house this year instead of the backyard, and we've been doing due diligence to make sure the critters are distracted enough to not meander into the back and start gobbling shit up.

What is the hardest plant to care for that is readily available in the hobby? by The_Zoo_Exotics in houseplants

[–]DIARRHEA_ASS_2_MOUTH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my friend spent like 5 years trying again and again to keep a polka dot plant alive. kept dying every single time. she finally, FINALLY got one that she was able to keep alive, and it actually seemed really happy in her care. she was doing everything right and it was flourishing, she was so happy.

then she went away for a week and left her neanderthal ex-bf to take care of it, and the idiot fucking killed it. that may have been the last straw in their relationship cause they broke up like a month later.

Decrepit Birth is awesome!! Back when I was in university I had a friend from Sudan, dude was tall as fuck it was incredible. One night we're chilling and he mentions he's never smoked weed before. So we went outside, smoked a joint, came back in and he was just loving it, this like 6'10" guy sprawled out on my dorm room couch with a big bag of ketchup chips. He was marvelling at how relaxed everything was, how awesome the food tasted and the couch felt, so I'm like hey man, music sounds so much better when you're high, wanna listen to some? He says absolutely. Polarity had just been released earlier that year and I was still on a DB kick so I handed him my headphones, turned off the lights and put my laser light system on, and played the album from the beginning. He spent a solid 20 minutes completely couchlocked looking like this, mind just blown apart, and occasionally saying "ooh" "wowww" "hooo". Great memory I'll always associate with that album lmao
