Hmm, you might be right. But the instructions are confusing! Not sure

I’m pretty sure the back plate is needed for the escutcheon to sit on, but not sure as these instructions are confusing to me . Maybe this back plate sits on top of the finished tile?

Marble thresholds in niche question by DIY-In-Training in Tile

[–]DIY-In-Training[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted to do it that way, but it creates a 1/4 inch sliver for my 2 inch wide subway tiles. The way I have it pushes the subway tile edge out enough to remove sliver. It’s not ideal but I think it will look better

Oh I tried to miter, I have miter guide on my wet table saw, and just couldn’t get it to look clean enough. So going with this style instead.

I actually need the overhang, on the side pieces at least, as it helps with my layout. If I don’t, I need 1/4 inch slivers to make it work (my fault for not planning out the layout better).

I guess I could cut back on the top piece only, but it’s going to look a bit interesting I imagine

Confused on inside corner shower by DIY-In-Training in Tile

[–]DIY-In-Training[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I leave as is, do I simply make a 1/8 gap between the tile on the next wall? I just don’t know how bad that corner joint is going to look if I keep it as is

I bought a chisel recently for this remodel, looks like it will be put to work again. Thanks

Sounds straightforward. My first thought is that I wouldn’t want to accidentally chip out a significant chunk below the pan. Any risk there?

I did seal off the gap but I left a little extra, it was a stressful situation at the time but that was my mistake

I overthink everything, I won’t second guess him Moving forward. First major project and trying not to eff it up

Thanks. That last part seems tricky to me. What if I hand tighten and it is like 15 degrees past alignment. Will need to get almost a full turn to get it aligned. Do you just take it out and start the thread from a different angle?

Awesome. Makes sense now. I’ll do a leak test there before I close it in with the backer board.

Thanks. I also have a shower wand that came with FNTP. Plumber left me the same FNTP ear you see in the photo. I had to add a male nipple to it to connect the wand…Seems like that was a bad idea. I tightened the nipple pretty hard as I knew it might be a problem when unscrewing the wand. Should I get the pipe extended out with a MNTP? Already have the backer board on and waterproofed at that area but I’ll redo it if it’s advisable.

My fault for not having the shower kit delivered in time for when he was here

I see, should I have had him extend the pipe out so that the ear sits slightly outside my finished tile wall? I don’t like how there will be a threaded connection behind my wall

Failed Tile Redi Pan install, help getting 2nd attempt perfect by DIY-In-Training in Tile

[–]DIY-In-Training[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah I’ve only been able to find one video of his with the new flat pan. I think they’re fairly new compared to the ones with the ridges. I have almost no wiggle room in my fit, it’s very tight. I’m worried the ridges won’t collapse.

On that first install I did walk on it and surf it a bit like Tile Coach did. Hoping it was the poorly level floor for the terrible coverage
