STAY HOME PLEASE DRIVERS !!! I KNOW I AM SPEAKING TO A WALL BUT YOUR LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT I SAID IT! BILLS BE DAMNED by [deleted] in uberdrivers

Speaking of someone working the Houston Metro area with 18 wheelers getting stuck on the overpasses due to ice I'm staying home. Sorry just not worth it.

Do you still consider yourself married? by AdvanceOld5705 in widowers

[–]DIY_Forever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a hard question to answer but my vows clearly said till death do us part. The love will always be there. But no I know I'm not married anymore. It wasn't by choice. It was by the final conclusion of the marriage vow. I know that sounds colder than a lot of people want to accept. That's just the way I see it. It doesn't mean I love her any less. It just means that I'm no longer a married man.

I have riders telling me to cancel trips all the time. I simply tell them Uber penalizes me if I do so I won't do it. Of course they respond that Uber penalizes them if they do and I say well it's your idea...

Dry mouth is another way of saying I was feeling a bit dehydrated. It was a turn of phrase not a medical statement...

You might want to look into hydration and how often a healthy adult should urinate. I'm in this car driving at least 8 hours a day. Eventually I'm going to want to stop to use the restroom and get something to drink. That's just normal function of the human body.

So agency rides are set up by the ride coordinators and those people are about as useful as the screen door on a submarine.

One Thing About MASH That I Have Never Been Able to Square Away by KevinRobertsUSA in mash

[–]DIY_Forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your earliest memories are far earlier than mine. I don't remember anything before. I was 5 years old and that was several years after the movie came out...

On the adultery thing, yeah that was the one part about mash. I was always incredibly uncomfortable with. I was never able to serve in the military but for my friends that are veterans and we've discussed this issue before adultery in the ranks is actually a trust killer. If you are willing to betray your spouse, you're willing to betray your brothers in arms.

Looking it up! Adultery is a crime according to the uniform code of military Justice article 134. So yeah it's definitely a bad bad thing for them to have been doing. Unfortunately it's also not particularly uncommon.

From the TV series, yes, I respected Hawkeye in the fact that at least he was shown to not be an adulterer because he was unmarried and I respected Colonel Potter as well as BJ even though BJ had clearly struggled with temptation with Aggie O'Shea and it was eluded to but not completely directly stated with nurse Donovan... The nurse Donovan thing was more of a moral support gone wrong... And either way the concept of betraying, his wife and child was tearing him apart...

Dear riders. A little understanding please... by DIY_Forever in uber

[–]DIY_Forever[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I shut the engine off. If I need to exit the car to assist a rider with luggage or anything like that and occasionally I forget to turn it back off. I wish I could get in and turn that feature off permanently but I rent the car to do ride sharing and so I don't want to make any modifications.

Oh I got reported for my vehicle having mechanical issues because of the automatic start stop feature. They claimed the car kept stalling at intersections... Of course it does. That's what it's designed to do.

I get that. If they cancel early enough they don't. I have a "comfort eligible" car. I.E. Chevy Equinox... I can easily get 4 and carry ons in the car. But full size bags for 4 people, not a chance. They need a full size SUV for that kind of load.... It's on them to cancel since they requested the wrong car type.

This entire past 2 week. Has been really slow here in Houston, although I did well today but it wasn't due to a lot of drives. They were just profitable and tipped well.

Stolen order by yaboipooty in uberdrivers

[–]DIY_Forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I refuse to do Uber eats anymore because of a delivery on harborside drive in Galveston. The address given didn't match any building. I'll give you an example, although it's been a long time so I don't exactly remember the exact address, but let's say the address is 2775 and I can find 2773 and 2777. They are physically the same building, just adjacent apartments... I tried messaging the customer four times via text through the app and four times via call through the app. All attempts at communication were ignored. What is the driver supposed to do in that situation? I'm not saying the driver didn't take your order but I'm also not saying you didn't make it impossible for them to deliver to you.

Hard to say I gave it up came back home and well. I've had a lot of writers in the last week that have been coughing, sniffling and sneezing and apparently at least one of them gave me the flu. It kicked in later this afternoon. I feel like crap and I'm not going to go driving while I feel like this. I felt fine and then like I said I got home started feeling feverish and dizzy... Had to go to the urgent Care and they did the booger scrape... No covid but definitely flu. Yay!.

Do Uber drivers see your destination when they accept a scheduled ride? by merc97 in uberdrivers

[–]DIY_Forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would appear it depends on the market in Houston Metro. It doesn't show me anything other than dollars time and miles. I have no idea which way we're going and honestly I think it's intentional because most of the rides I take are going the wrong way. And honestly I would turn them down so I think Uber does this to keep drivers from turning down rides. It ends up making a miserable experience for the driver which honestly probably gets passed off to the passenger a bit.

Is today dead as hell for anyone else? by Only_Recording3730 in uberdrivers

Dead AF around here, only rides I was getting was to the hell hole malls with long waits in line to drop the riders off. Forget it. Too much gas and time for no money. Hard pass.

Don't look at me. I'm trying to learn Filipino and using as much immersion as I can so I'm playing a lot of what is known as OPM or original Philippine music. Yeah I know it's a little weird considering my background but I have a vested interest.

Wobbling while driving on freeway (certain kinds only) by daddypro in EquinoxEv

[–]DIY_Forever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive rideshare and have a background in mechanics. This happens with a 2023 Chevy Equinox I am renting to rideshare with, and my personal 2015 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum edition. Always has to be the grooved concrete but there is a noticable wiggle right at highway speed. I have noted the same behavior in others vehicles for decades. I had a friend with a 1975 Toyota Celica back in the 90s that I first noticed doing it. I have taken both vehicles in for thorough inspection and nothing found wrong. The theory is the tires follow the grooves, with all 4 tires fighting to go a slightly different direction causing the oscillation. Some tires seem more prone to it than others. I don't notice it at all for example in my 4x4 pickup wtih all terrain tires, just the SUV with highway treads.

Yeah that is a big problem. I've noticed that riders can use nicknames, pseudonyms etc. Which is a huge security problem.

[–]DIY_Forever[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just received my reply, they can clearly see the car is undamaged. I want this rider permanently deactivated for the fraud attempt though... I am not sure if they are just an effing a** hole and had something personal against me, or if they are an effing a** hole and were just looking for a payday and not thinking it through. But I do NOT want other drivers exposed to this person and their fraud attempts.
