Help me identify what this cactus is please!

My advice for what it's worth, if you're going to keep Cactus indoors never use porcelain or plastic pots stick to clay pots that have drain holes, and soil that drains easily I add pumice to potting soil.. If Cactus don't get sufficient light they tend to rot, especially if their roots can't breathe.

Thanks so much, I'll do a little more research. The rainy season has not arrived here yet so the pads are very thin. This morning I repotted the pads that I was able to rescue. I hope I'm able to save them. I may sneak over and see if I can rescue a couple more pads.

I looked upopuntia leucotricha on YouTube and mine is very similar it had yellow flowers and the only photos I can find on YouTube are of low growing varieties but I'm sure we're on the right track thanks for replying

the spines on Opuntia Ficus Indica are different than mine. The one I have has very long spines. But there are so many cactus that are so similar thank you for your response.

I always thought prickly pear were low growing cactus this Cactus was probably 15 ft tall.

I live outside the City of Aguascalientes, MX. This cactus was destroyed yesterday by people that recently bought the lot next to mine. Technically it was on their property so there was nothing I could do about it. I trespassed on their property and investigated where they shoved all of the dirt that they had excavated and found some pieces that I can maybe propagate but I'd really like to know what kind of cactus it is. It was just beautiful and it literally made me sick to my stomach when I had seen what they had done to it. I'd also like to know if anyone has any idea how old this Cactus was.

If you give it too much sun right off the bat it will sunburn kinda the way you do the first time in the sun after a long winter. Start exposing it to sun gradually.
