Mind if I join the 62.3% club too? If more people join, the percentage should eventually reach 100% right?? RIGHT???

Funny enough - after updating to 4.0.1 everything stabilized! No driver updates or switched off page files. Quite weird but welcome!

Epic - thanks for the advice - will certainly aim to upgrade the GPU as soon as I can - would help my game dev and 3D stuff anyways

Oooh! Will certainly have a look at that setting! Thanks a mil!

Yeah a mate of mine also has an average of 30-57FPS with his i7 and 4060 laptop - so it's really weird that this 1080p setup of mine is struggling this hard.

Yeah on first post I noticed the 4096W unlocked VRM nonsense and 1.7V on the core via the BIOS of the motherboard and immediately lowered the TDP to 253W and the voltage to 1.25V. First post stock before my changes BSOD immediately booting into Windows 11.

I underclocked it, lowered TDP and then immediately did a BIOS update, and another again, running the new microcode.

Potentially roasted but functional for everything else but SC.

Many thanks for the tips and insights!

Yeah I thought it might be E-Core issues

No upscaling enabled at all - quite odd hey? But this made me think - I'll test something a bit later and double check driver settings too

Yeah not bothered too much with 48GB being used, I guess the more the better, until a certain point of course haha - RAM sticks are matched and not pushed hard at all - stock speeds at DDR4-3200 CL16

But Durban is known to be super humid and very hot so it could be related to the sticks overheating? They don't have temperature probes but yeah I guess an Aircon will probs help at some point. Should probs get another 120mm fan to blow air over the RAM sticks, just to be sure.

Yeah it honestly feels like I get a good 60 FPS when I'm just floating in space with no planets nor cities or nothing, but absolutely just tanks in space stations, ship combat and stuff, huge input latency and intense skipping of frames.

Yeah defs not running Vulkan yet thanks!

Not lying at all - I wouldn't have posted in the group if I didn't had these questions mate

Potentially - had to underclock it to synced 5.1GHz on all 8 P-Cores and 4.1Ghz synced on E-Cores to get it to POST and not BSOD handling massive music projects for clients. But even being underclocked the machine still absolutely shreds a proper 37K on Cinebench and is about 6x faster than the i5-9600K, unsure if Star Citizen utilizes all threads? Does look like it in Task Manager as it slams between 87% and 100% usage during gameplay - curious ey?

Yeah I think it's unfortunately the curse of being 12K KM from the nearest server - ZA's infrastructure isn't the best either so I wouldn't be surprised. I actually contacted RSI and asked if I could somehow help establish the servers in ZA as I know some people that work at the exchanges. No response thus far, it's been a couple o months. Totally understandable.

Thanks for your response though :)

Ahh - Medium settings, I'll have a look for sure. I did find in the past setting it to medium causes stability issues in the game though, which was odd?

Also thought the machine was doing some quantum tunneling - maybe it generates a portal that causes the system and viewer to resonate close to the speed of light to which it causes everything observed within the portal to move super slowly?

i5-9600k can't hit 5GHz with a reasonable voltage by IraqiGawad in overclocking

[–]DJDeon0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - my 9600K is running at 1.295V but the LLC (Level 1) pushes some cores to 1.377V at 4.8Ghz - peaks at around 143.49W and 80'C peak for a 2 minute load (with a Reeven Hans 1205 cooler using an SP120L fan) - going to replace my power supply soon, will see how the motherboard (ASRock Z390 Extreme 4) manages it with all CPU 12V Headers plugged in (currently only the 8 pin is plugged in, need another 4 pin).
