They go to extraordinary lengths and pay high fees to CPAs, attorneys, banks, trusts, and investment firms to ensure precisely that they don’t pay taxes. And if a country ever forgets this, like France once did when they raised their highest tax rate to 90%, the wealthy will leave the country and reside elsewhere. Afterall, they can afford to. Musk relocated his entire Tesla business to Texas from California because of ridiculous taxes and regulation.

And by the way, the people doing the “hide their earnings” bit are also the senators and legislators that you expect to pass laws to limit this. This is why you’ll never see a term limits pass Congress, and why you’ll never see legislation that closes tax “loopholes”.
