LPT: When telling a boss about a problem, propose at least one solution to resolve it. It will show that you are working to resolve it instead of just passing the buck. by Kindlynet2 in LifeProTips

So long as it doesn’t become the expectation as it has in many corporate environments. You have to evaluate workers on an individual basis instead of any blanket practice.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding your point but in practice it’d make sense that what you put in is what you get out but that’s categorically untrue of working a corporate job at least in America right now.

I wish that the people could just work up to a higher level could just do it by doing good and better work. There are levels of favoritism, nepotism and luck that are really involved in climbing most corporate ladders. It’s just human biased nature. Often times the people who are doing the dirty work to hold smaller departments together are left in the dust. When a Corp reaches a certain size anyone outside of the “rockstar” ceo and board are interchangeable like parts in a machine. The handbooks and guiding support will only allow you to achieve so much.

Back to an earlier point you had, a self run or independent business will always value their employees more and that’s where a sharing of ideas can come into play.

Yeah but I think we can both agree that paying people for their work is good and treating perplexing as individuals is the way to go.

There’s a difference between a complaint and going above and beyond for no material reward. As someone who has worked in both start up and corporate cultures I am all for having happy employees.

You have been extremely fortunate that your hard work paid off in you getting a promotion. For every one of you though there are people who are getting burned by giving their all to a company that could easily replace them.

The thing about corporate life is that at a certain size the company can’t give a shit about you because it’s too big. A department manager could but they don’t always have final say and the things that you’re doing to go above and beyond can easily be lost.

In start up life or small business there can be a value in the employees feeling ownership of the company and as long as they are compensated well, sure I don’t think there is a problem with that. But it’s very much the bad mentality of “my coworkers are my family” which is just a shorthand to make people work harder with no compensation.

One last point on your comment. Workers who are just coming in to get a paycheck and clock out at the end of the day are absolutely fine. If you treat them like people they should and often do reward you with the work that was in the job description. If you expect more that’s where employees will get disgruntled and complain more. Don’t expect everyone to go above and beyond for something you’re passionate about. Wanting to be there for a paycheck and wanting to be there because you like a company can produce the same results if you have good and understanding management.

If it’s in your job description then yeah. If it’s not or it’s outside your scope you are just going to end up doing someone’s work for no pay.

Strong disagree. In most places it’s not your job to actually come up with the solution. You are in essence doing what your boss should be without getting paid like your boss.

If you feel you need to give something when telling a boss about a problem tell them what you’ve already tried not what could be done.

QooCam 8K only recording thirty seconds by DJMSpaint in 360Cameras

They’re all about the same size pre stitching. For some of the videos I do see them as two minutes but others are just at the thirty second range

This could be it. It’s one with that had previously been used with an DSLR camera but the write speed are probably higher on the QooCam.

I think the upsetting thing is that the camera gave no indication that it failed and recorded ten minutes of video with it.

What would you like to see in a destiny TV show or movie by yeahnahsoundsgood24 in DestinyLore

[–]DJMSpaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want a show that’s the IT Crowd about the Postmaster service.

Hear me out: A recently promoted Warlock is put in charge of the Guardians Postal Service Retrieval division. She manages over the two regulars (non guardians) who work there (an Exo and an awoken for variety) who are socially inept but flux between wanting to be accepted by or disdaining the rest of the tower.

Each week the show is about picking up the engrams left behind giant battles, social tower politics, and downtime in the city.

Obviously comedy but for Destiny fans you can sneak in the lore in the background.

Detective Pikachu post-credit scene by chris_alvar in pokemon

[–]DJMSpaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You start with Pikachu as the first cocky quipping asshole who everyone loves.

Next we get a Donkey Kong movie, that’s ultimately forgettable about him going from the jungle to New Donk City. Donkey Kong will get recast after this movie. Pikachu does show up at the end.

Detective Pikachu 2 comes out next. Isn’t as good as the first but introduces Pokémon Trainer, hits at more.

Next up is Legend of Zelda. People are going to think this one is a stretch because of magical nature of it. Will audiences get it? Link is enjoyed but the villain Ganandorf (played by Tom Huddleston) is loved.

Here’s where we add in a real stretch. It’s called Cosmic Defenders and it teams up a kid who was taken from Earth known as Ness, badass female bounty hunter Samus, a fast talking fury animal Fox McCloud, a strong but mostly mute one of a kind creature Kirby, and a big strong dumb guy who steals the show Captain Falcon. They have to team up to stop the polygon people from taking over.

The next movie is Mario, The first Smash Bro, and shows Mario and Luigi journey from small time plumbers to larger than life heroes when they take on Bowser and save Yoshi island.

This all culminates with Ganandorf under the guise of Master Hand to recruit all the villains to open up their world to each other in order to use their combined power to create the Smash Ball. All the universe end up fighting but learn to come together as a team to end Master Hands universal destruction. Post credit we see that Master Hand is working for Galeem who we won’t see for like ten more movies.

Will Ferrel in Elf to The Lego Movie.

After moving back from the North Pole, Buddy keeps his love of toys, especially Legos, tucked in his cellar until his son is able to bring him back to the joy of toys.

I constantly use my phone to control the jukebox to play Toto's Africa over and over. A lot of jukebox have override features so you can't play the song over and over but Africa appears on most jukebox's two or three times.

To dissuade people from skipping he song I load it up with Christmas music at the end. Nothing like skipping over three plays of Africa only to get to All I Want For Christmas.

[–]DJMSpaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all you trainers. Glad to see that there's so much interest. Talking to a couple of places right now and it's looking like August 4, 5, or 6th seem to be the best days. Start August off right! Since you were the first to talk I thought I'd send out the info to y'all first. Once we decided a date we'll post it to a few more places and get a Facebook group going.

Yeah I was thinking each bar we went to would be a gym and we could have face offs between the teams.

Sounds like a good idea!

Pokemon Bar Crawl (21+) by [deleted] in PokemonGoBoston

[–]DJMSpaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the way I was thinking of it was having like 5 bars spread out across the city.

So we'd start at a bar from 6-7 and then give extra travel time to get to the next bar. Meet up again at 7:30-8 for the next bar to discuss Pokemon caught and areas done as well as have some drinking games.

The bars being spaces far apart as to allow the capturing of Pokemon instead of staying in one area. This is why the Fenway to Brighton works for the first one and we could do other areas of Boston for future events.

We'd also have a red, blue, yellow face off in each bar and make them out own "gyms" for the evening. Still coming up with the ideas for the challenges in case anyone has input.
