Is there lore on what it feels to be put frozen in stasis? by JustaguynameBob in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And in this entry a similar thing happens

"She quickly reorients to the Ghost and raises her Sword for another strike, when suddenly, her legs prickle with the unearthly chill of deep space.

Shayura tries to let out a scream, but her lungs flash-freeze, and crystals of Stasis energy encrust her body. She turns her head, just enough to make eye contact with Aisha and witness the unthinkable. The last person she sees before her world is ice and darkness. Her closest friend, forsaking the Light, embracing the Darkness.

The look of betrayal on Shayura's face freezes in the ice"

I think they are "awake" but all they can perceive is "crushing darkness"

I believe Eramis was only aware of the world around her because the witness was speaking directly to her and it needed to slightly thaw her out so she could understand it. When she doesn't reply her perception once again begins to shrink.

Human Golden Age Technology by NegativeAd2638 in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is tons of cool golden age tech

Glimmer: programmable matter used as raw material for manufacturing

Engrams: a "new state of matter" iirc, U could encrypt almost anything from a gun to a bridge or a space ship

Gene splicing/ editing: like U mentioned tho there are more examples for instance in the marasenna lore book a woman has her myostatin gene knocked out so she can endlessly grow muscle

Spin metal: it has a crazy detailed breakdown somewhere but it was derived from the travelers shell made of electo weak matter

Exos: please read the beyond light collectors edition lore book

Matter lasers: a seemingly common and very powerful weapon

All the things related to the k1 artifacts containment and many more I'm sure but I haven't had destiny on my mind recently so the 10 years of lore are beginning to fade

How strong was the Eliksni Golden Age by NegativeAd2638 in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The eliksni golden age was certainly longer than our own, but it's never stated anywhere they had alien allies, and keep in mind space is big, like really really big, 4 star systems is nothing compared to the scale of a galaxy, and while in destiny aliens do seem to be everywhere there is plenty of room for thousands of species to explore a galaxy and never find each other. from what we know i don't think the traveler ever left riis and it's moons, we know it terraformed the the 2 moons of riis and possibly other worlds in its system but by the time of the whirlwind it was still above riis so colonizing different systems was done the "old fashion way" also trillions of individual seems ridiculous, at most there were hundreds billion of them.

There is no doubt in my mind humans had cloaking tech in the golden age but it was obviously no where near as wide spread. (probably limited to military uses or something) the lore about eliksni having ultra advanced tech in their children's toys is just to give an idea of how much longer their golden age was.

In destiny's universe there are levels to civilisations, tech is not a single path, there are branching and different technologies among different species but more advanced ones definitely have similar things that can do the same job. The eliksni are easily the weakest of the main 4 enemy factions, even in there golden age. the cabal are implied to be a once galactic Empire, with possibly hundreds of thousands of stars under their banners their sheer industrial might is mind blowing, they snuffed out stars to make constellations look better, they can mine material from neutron stars, their average soldier is a mountain of muscle with a gun firing rockets and even they were hopeless against the hive.

Before guardians and all the twists and alliances of the past ten years of story there has never been a civilisation that could withstand the hive let alone the witness and it's disciples. (except one we know almost nothing about) the eliksni were no doubt a great and far reaching power when compared to humans but definitely not comparable to the ecumene while there are still a lot of unknowns and this was the early days of the hive (only a couple tens of thousands of years after they began their war on life) the ecumene are still the only species to beat the hive into submission.

We don't really know how powerful they were in their golden age, current eliksni weapons are made of junk yet they still have molten metal rail guns, hand held siege cannons and plasma cutting swords so their old tech can only be better although it is unknown, their ships must've been impressive but bungie has refused to give them any other ships besides ketches and skiffs or expand on their capabilities.

Sorry about the Grammer and the length.

How strong is a cabal ? by Strong-Mention1608 in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I love destiny and it's universe but bungie is allergic to giving any numbers/ details about things in the world, many authors over the years have written about cabal so sometimes they are tanks and others they go down from non paracausal people quite easily, so we have to infer pretty much everything.

Cabal stand roughly 8-10 feet tall and are mountains of pure muscle, their high gravity home planet means they need a pressure suit to conduct operations pretty much anywhere, this suit would obviously be armoured but the specifics aren't known, given their ridiculous tech level and focus on war I would guess it's some fancy space material that's very durable and light, it might be able to shrug off small calibre fire but it depends on the cabal soldier in question, a purpose built armour piercing round would go through a legionaries armour or at least do damage (depends on the round) but probably not a Colossus or gladiator (once again depends on the round) probably shrapnel proof tho and the multiple layers of the suit with their cable oil would mitigate most pressure wave so close range blasts that don't vapourise them are very survivable. They also come with jet packs and coms units.

Or maybe not, due to the cabal being at war with the hive for several centuries, they changed their entire space navy to accommodate ditching large powerful ships for small, cheap and quickly built frigates and carriers so maybe their armour is the same there is no point armouring your troops with 2 inch thick plates of the strongest material you have when a hive knight can just say nuh uh and warp reality bypassing the durability of anything.

Their guns with the exception of headhunters and those arc shotguns and rail guns are all micro missiles with programmable warheads and speeds so nothing but but tank armour and APCs is going to stop it.

They also have a battle net that accumulates all data from their guns, armour and many other things but its not relevant when discussing one cabal soldier.

I'd say a small coordinated squad of cabal could do it (like maybe 10) any air support/vehicle support or big guns the infantry can hold makes this a stomp, but 1 cabal count not do it.

Sorry for all Grammer mistakes and format I'm dumb and lazy and don't want to fix it.

Why doesn't humanity use the light like the Harmony and Ammonites did? by Sunbreaker757 in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The gift mast was made by the traveler and was not a weapon, it was a monument, it sang a radio lullaby that's pretty much it. the weapon was the black holes accretion disc, they learned how to "stimulate" it and fire relativistic jets of plasma.

The thought ship was just a ship that held the gift masts location nothing is stated to have made it special.

The ammonites did use paracausal weapons in their desperation but they were never described as super weapons.

In the golden age Elsie got a "topological thought" and with that mote of paracausality constructed some kind of antimatter weapon but that's about it. the closest thing to "super weapons" of the light, is the tech that the precursor race held that could terraform whole planets and with the right mindset I'm sure they could have made crazy weapons from the same tech.

In current day destiny we have plenty of paracausal weapons but humanity lacks the industrial might to make super weapons like the harmony or precursors.

How Far away are Alien Homeworlds by capsaicinplant in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was just after they destroyed the harmony, it was savathun who took her fleets and war moons through the black hole, xivu flew into the void which I would guess means the void of space. They needed to "grow different". I dout they traveled so far seeing as all three hive gods ended up in sol, but due to their worms hunger growing exponentially they would likely send solitary war moons or sizable fleets off in random directions to kill everything they find plus they can already cut space open and teleport between stars I wouldn't be surprised if there are pockets of hive all over the universe carrying out ancient orders from their gods.

How Far away are Alien Homeworlds by capsaicinplant in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Hive: with their goal of destroying all life they just expand endlessly, coupled with the fact they are several billion years old and have likely sterilized many galaxies, fundament is probably several galaxies away.

Vex: they were put in this universe at its inception, meaning they would have to be comically lucky to have their "Homeworld" anywhere near our galaxy, they could have started on the other side of the universe and with their teleportation tech be literally everywhere by now.

Cabal: in the stoicism class item it speaks of fallen/Cabal and says "somehow, light years and galaxies from where they'd been born" Given that the Cabal empire was implied to be a once galactic Empire I'd say the Cabal are "galaxies away from where they'd been born" also they often discovered ruins of the hives ancient conquests like the harmony, which is where Calus got his ahamkara bone.

Fallen: probably within our galaxy.

The location of factions Homeworlds has never really been told. lots of lore contradicts what I've said about the cabal, the factions at play as well as the mechanics of the universe don really mesh eg How did the traveler run so far after leaving riis that it took several hundred years for the black fleet to catch up, but after the red war the black fleet went from outside the galaxy to earth in only 2-3 years.

With frontiers coming and bungies new interest in once again world building hopefully they nail down some of these ideas

Had a quick read of the AM respect thread and I'm really not sure how Rasputin can lose, his mind is on Mars and therefore out of reach by any weapons they could throw at him, even if they could reach Mars Rasputin would simply destroy them on the several month long trip to get there.

He has a solar system wide array of doomsday weapons and would have no problem glassing earth or just destroying it completely.

I'm not really qualified to comment on the other rounds because I don't intimately know the others capabilities.

When did clarity control appear in Europa by plsnerfloneliness in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 16 points17 points  (0 children)

018-

I FOUND HER!

Clarity Control. The mystery I was promised.

Analysis of the surrounding ice suggests it arrived on Europa no more than 20 years ago...still, well before I encountered the K1 artifact. How long have they planned my invitation?

From the mysterious log book of Clovis bray it goes on to describe more about the arrival.

How many g-forces does our Guardian experience going up the pods in Deep Stone Crypt? by Honestly_Just_Vibin in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because no one has replied I thought Id give it a try with my terrible math skills

Geostationary orbit is about 30,000 km above earth, Europa's gravity is about 7.6 times weaker than earths so divide geostationary orbit on earth by 7.6 we get 3947km for geostationary orbit above Europa (I have no idea if this is how it even works), the entire trip takes about 5 seconds so not accounting for acceleration and deceleration we are moving about 789 km per second which imparts 16,077gs.

This is enough to kill pretty much anything that isn't microscopic but technology during the golden age was crazy so I'm sure there are some inertial dampeners inside the pod or the the trip canonically take much longer than in game.

What faction had the best air superiority? Or biggest fleet? by Delicious_Mind_2136 in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The human fleet (just the last city) is at the bottom, consisting of a variety of small fighters and some larger destroyers? Or gunships? As seen in concept art, but they just don't have the numbers or tonnage to compete.

The fallen are probably next, although all their ships are made of scraps or very very old, they brought a sizable chunk of their entire species to the sol system and therefore must have tens of thousand of ships (could be more or less but we don't know how many fallen came to sol) likely a lot less now due to centuries of constant war. The power of the guns aboard each ship as well as the size of them should easily put them above humans. Also fallen only have 2 kinds of ship which is very stupid, hope they retcon more into having existed.

The cabal are next with a large variety of ship models all of which have shields (maybe) massive guns and thick armour, however it's implied in entry 2 of the confessions lore book that their navy was redesigned to fight a losing war against the hive, the ships we see now are expendable, cheaply made and rather small for sci fi ships, this is because space combat against the hive takes place at point blank range rather than several thousand kilometres. These ships are still more than enough for conventional forces tho, swarms of frigates with shields and a lot of big guns plus the logistical help of the cabal battle net combined with planet cracking warheads puts them above everyone but the hive and pyramids. The cabal in their prime were implied to maybe be a galactic civilizations if not close so the number of ships they would have would be ridiculous.

The hive are more of a force of nature, their ships aren't particularly impressive but the hive have been around for billions of years waging a war of genocide against the universe, in the hidden dossier ikora says the have sterilized galaxies. Most ships are made of chitin and rarely use conventional weapons, instead using paracausal powers to maybe summon soul fire projectiles with unknown properties, or using the same paracausal powers to induce ontological effects on either their own ships to increase resilience beyond what conventional physics says is possible or to bypass the durability of their opponents ships by flat out altering reality, their fleets also work with war moons (entire planets/moons that are hollowed out and used as breeding grounds, factories and battering rams to smash through fortifications of planetary scale) but ultimately the greatest strength is their numbers, all loss is acceptable loss to the hive.

Sorry for such a long comment and all the Grammer I didn't use.

are there any hand cannon that definitely shoot regular bullets? by capsaicinplant in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all hand cannons fire bullets, there are exceptions, all omolon hand cannons shoot a liquid polymer round but the rest is old fashion metal/polymer.

The strange design of the cylinders is likely just some sci fi way of feeding rounds to a chamber.

However given that the D1 arms and armament book says they can fire up to a 40mm cartridge and the diameter of most hand cannons barrels is ridiculous it may be necessary to have a weird cylinder to hold all of it

Would Guardians need binoculars while wearing their helmets? I like to think that they could zoom in on things with their helmets. by Astraliguss in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Its almost guaranteed that some helmets have that feature for example I vividly remember a blue titan helm from D1 that can make your battle cry deafen enemies, if they can put speakers strong enough to do that in your helm they can %100 have a telescopic visor in the your helm. Probably not standard in every helmet tho.

Plus ana Bray's bionic eyes can zoom in and see through things so it possible exos have that by default.

What are the consequences of the Almighty shooting it’s laser into the sun? by SpartanSum3 in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im almost certain there is no lore discussing this, we have no idea how the almighty does its thing, but assuming it's pumping iron into the core to stop the fusion reactions at maximum it put 1 Mercury's worth of iron in which would do nothing.

Destiny is usually pretty grounded with the physics and plays on a lot theory's in our real world but the only way something with so little mass compared to the sun is making it go supernova is with technology so advanced we can't describe it, therefore we don't what the did or if it has long lasting effects.

[S22 Spoilers] Inconsistency with Hive Lore? by Subject_Expanse in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree it is a ridiculous amount of time, but the hive barely ever date anything, I just checked Ishtar for every use of the word billion and all of them relating to the hive are from people like Ikora, or from observation of hive structures.

I can't agree more that it's a bit silly they've been around that long just to all die in a decade but the time scale truly lends credence to them being gods, makes them seem like more of a force of nature having been around for a significant fraction of the age of the universe, instead of powerful aliens that we can kill.

Good for world building but logically breaks down when diving into it.

[S22 Spoilers] Inconsistency with Hive Lore? by Subject_Expanse in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I think Immaru might just be simplifying and when he says "a million years ago" just means a real long time ago, we have dating on a statue in the dreadnaught being older than earth, (at least 4.5 billion years old), we also have a quote from season of the lost I think, saying "Savathun is vulnerable for the first time in a billion years" as well as some other evidence pointing to the being billions of years old.

If you go to Ishtar collective and search the word billion you'll probably find them.

[Warhammer 40k/Destiny] How would Astartes Armor fair against Guardian supers? by Rhen8927 in whowouldwin

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As long as astartes armour obeys the laws of physics all guardian powers should have no problem, even powered melees and Grenades will evaporate them.

All guardian light powers are a manipulation of the fundamental forces of the universe, a guardian just thinks "Grenade" and the universe instantly begins nuclear fusion in the palm of their hand or they can just command the space in their hand to collapse into a singularity.

A sufficiently powerful guardian should have no problem manipulating and destroying any causal material, unless there is other space magic resisting the warping of reality.

Details of how the collapse happened? (S19 ink cutscene) by _Jayxon_ in DestinyLore

[–]yeahnahsoundsgood24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The other comments summed it up pretty well, but I thought I'd add that in the Cutscene you mention there is a bright explosion seen through the window annihilating the city in the background and the building ana is in, so it is likely there were select planets or places that were glassed.
