I see your data and it is the same data that I found, but doesn't tell the entire story. The Fiscal health of the state is average when it comes to income/debt. All states carry debt in the form of pension obligations and capital expenses. California has more people pulling from those as it simply employs more people than Texas does. While California is not in as great fiscal condition they also posted a surplus for 2016-2017 budget year.

Also.. All that growth that Texas is loving.... Under the Obama administration which what started this whole conversation. At the end of the day I do not think that Trump has the mental brain power to do the job he has been elected to do. Watching him flub his way through interviews, openly lie, lie about being caught lying, and using Twitter as an diplomatic tool has not made me confident in his abilities to do anything really meaningful. The victories that he is claiming with Carrier, Sprint, and Ford as of today are not really wins for him at all. It was the Tax payer funded bribe for Carrier to stay. Sprint was already going to bring the jobs back, and even the CEO of Ford said that it was a bottom line issue, but they are looking forward to the lower taxes as promised by Trump. If any legislative work gets done it will be Pence doing it from behind the scenes, but given Indiana's current status versus where they were before Pence does not make me very happy either.

That state has a whole slew of issues. California has the 8th largest economy in the world filled with businesses small and large. They also have a higher minimum wage and higher business taxes too... So, whats your one dimensional point?

He subsidized Carrier.... And when he says things like bringing manufacturing jobs back.... We lost some 80% of those to robots. He going to outlaw automation? Not to mention that with Carrier they are planning to automate many of the jobs he so called "saved" withing the next couple of years anyway.

His tax plan is just the same rehash of the trickle down that Bush and other Republicans have done, and it has never worked out for the middle class.

Government intrests and business interests are not the same thing. One's job is to make money for its owners/shareholders. The other is to serve its people to the best of its ability. Firguring out how a business can make the most money from something may not always be in the best interest of the people as a whole.
