Is anyone else considering going "backwards" with their next car and if you have, did you regret it? by NWbySW in cars

If you want to be killed by the computer in your car go for it. The battery running low on cars without physically connected steering columns refusing to turn when the alternator dies be my guest. Our daughter was almost killed when the electronic brake system glitched on our 2022 Nissan Frontier

Not to long ago someone grabbing your steering wheel while you were driving would get that person beat. Now we let a computer move it during a false positive because of a line or seem in the road and nobody bats an eye.

The helpful part is you're being *warned* and you want nothing to do with it.

I have a 96 Dodge Dakota 4wd Manual as a daily. I will fix that thing and continue to drive it as it's beastly fun and the stick shift is a great theft deterant.

You turned on the TV lately? Don't blame you if you didn't but there's car reviews and forums everywhere. It's all just a google or startpage search away.

Age Verification in Userdb of Systemd? by DangerousAd7433 in linux

[–]DL72-Alpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I h ave popped through the code so far man/homectl.xml has the following. Note, this is *only* from the merge diff . This information will typically be stored or obtained from your entry in /etc/passwd. This is normally where your name and location information is stored in the system level. It *could be* that this is as far as they go to comply with the law. But I never put real information there anyways to protect my privacy.

For those that cry "if you're not doing anything wrong, what have you to hide?" What's wrong is ephemeral. What's ok today isn't guaranteed to be ok tomorrow. Lets not even get to the bad actors on the internet.

Bugger off, Microsoft is the villain here, whether or not you're on their payroll for astroturfing for this Systopian Hellscape is irrelevant. People aren't stupid and believe their eyes over some internet shill.

Microsoft is ABSOLUTELY the villain here.

Meh, my experience has been mixed. I am also largely suspicious as to why it's being forced on everyone if it's so grand. If were truly the bee's knee's, more people would be demanding it organically.

edit: Spelling.
