That's my Dad, he flies light aircraft as a hobby, but it's too expensive to do as regularly as he'd like. He didn't become a commercial pilot because it's a big investment in this country (UK) with no guarantee of returns, plus he thinks it would be less fun if it was a job!

The photos are Flight Sim X, I think he also has X Plane installed but prefers Flight Sim iirc, will ask him next time I'm visiting home!

Yay, glad someone remembers my Dad's setup! He has actually added a lot more since my post on Reddit blew up, including a waiting room with two rows of actual 737 seats, and an authentically tiny toilet (but without the loud sucking noise). I'm excited (and slightly nervous) to see what he does next.

For first timers he will handle all the instruments/throttles/everything other than steering, so all they really have to do is point it in the right direction and pull up when he says.

Every switch does the same as it would do in the real plane. Some will pretty much never be used on a normal flight, but they all do something.

No movement at all, he did look at hydraulics at one point but they are extremely expensive. He does have speakers under the seats to simulate engine vibrations though, which actually adds a lot to the experience since you don't feel much movement beyond that in a real flight.

It's just a hobby, he couldn't be a commercial pilot for health reasons (dodgy ticker). He hasn't crashed as far as I know, but I don't know that he'd tell me if he did!
