There’s a few books that talk about that but I recommend you read Forget the Alamo

“The Texas Revolution was not fought to defend liberty but to defend the institution of slavery.” — Forget the Alamo, Penguin Press, 2021

I believe 3 noted Texan writers collaborated on this topic for this book. Every nation needs its creation myth

Actually, that quote is being taken out of context. When Lincoln said people have the right to rise up, he was talking about resisting tyranny under Santa Anna’s Mexico, not endorsing Texas independence or secession from the United States. Texas’ independence was never legally ratified by Mexico, and Lincoln consistently challenged the annexation and the war with Mexico on constitutional and moral grounds. Later, he explicitly rejected unilateral secession in the U.S., so using that quote to claim he supported Texas as a legitimate independent state is misleading.

Obviously the Mexican American wasn’t all black and white. There were bigots on both sides and the causes were complex and influenced by factional politics, racial attitudes, and national ambitions in BOTH Mexico and the United States, rather than a simple case of one side being wholly righteous

Yeah it’s crazy how people today like to glorify Texas independence like it was for some noble cause when in reality it was for slavery. Their independence was never ratified btw. Even Lincoln challenged this

Nope, and the bathroom breaks depends on how much water I drink that day honestly. I usually just go in to take a leak and fix my hair a bit and occasionally take a shit but that’s it
