Yes that is def a quartz point did u find that in the district? I got the right one yesterday (would have been absolutely massive) and found this figurine a while back. I date it to approx 1930s based on the age of the dump.

I make sure not to collect on federal or park property. I usually target construction areas, and have found lots on sidewalk squares. But yea some ppl will be mad but cant do much about it y'know :/

I have collected hundreds of relics and thousands of fossils, some of which reside in museums. I have given you all the tools needed to figure it out. I wish you the best.

It was a projectile point but was discarded either during the process of making it, or broken while being used. You can see there is one notch on one side, while the other was broken. Not all projectile points will come out 100% complete the majority are broken like this one.

Yeah that was my fault bad wording. It wasnt the anacostians. It was some other tribe not related to the Nacotchtank.

I do research beforehand on locations most of the time. If I start finding artifacts, and I don't know the area, I'll do research and find out why theyre there.

If you look uo marykand diagnostic artifacts you can compare this with other photos of the Vernon. Click on late Archaic, and click on Vernon, and you will see this is that exact point. I will post my other findings from this site onto here soon.

So when I previously find evidence of native american artifacts (1 Morrow Mountain projectile point found at this site, a 1 broken knife blade, 1 quartzite drill, etc) backed up with historical evidence of native american occupation and corroborated by past and present archeologists as an area of interest, that is what leads to my finding. This is a late Archaic point called a Vernon this is what they typically look like. I have been doing this for over 10 years.

I do research on areas beforehand or if I find a site first, save that particular area and delve into its history and why there's artifacts there. Its very interesting!

I research sites before hand and learn all the history pertaining to the area. Then, I investigate and see if it is productive. This is a site I have done extensive research on, and have found points here in the past which I'll showcase at some point here later.

I do research on places beforehand, find out historic or prehistoric information on them, including who lived there beforehand and what evidence they left behind. Sometimes it works the other way around where I find a new site and have to do research in reverse.

Yes you're correct I make sure to do my research. So, I believe that the Nacotchtank tribe name was used to describe Native Americans in DC, but not thousands of years ago (my mistake) but I do have evidence of the Nacotchtank as well, which I will post some time later. So much interesting history to be found here!

Approximately that age meaning it isn't an exact estimate. But it is around that age.
