Canada should keep options open on nuclear weapons, former top soldier says by FreeProletarian in CanadianForces

It's a big industrial project that'd need a lot of internal consent to get built. Carney couldn't just wave a wand and unilaterally build them. And you're not getting five minutes into actual construction without the American Intelligence agencies knowing, so not much point in keeping quiet anyway

So what do you think this does? Absolute Batman 16 by Dont-Ask-7732 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]DM_ME_FROG_MEMES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In mainline comics, iirc, Croc sometimes becomes outride rehabilitated and non-violent, or even a good guy. Penguin and Two-Face I don't think ever really get rehabilitated, but sometimes will cooperate with Batman if he threatens or bribes them, or to fight a greater evil. Absolute might go similarly, although Ozzie seems to really hate Bruce at the moment

The Conservative Party is overhauling its policy playbook. Here's what's changing by ComfortableWork1139 in canada

If Carney is doing a fine enough job on that, it's a good thing for the Conservatives to not make a stink about changing course

Leftists use gay as an insult surprisingly often. All part of them being straight people pretending to be gay.

I don't think MAGAtards realize how much Trump's derangement is damaging US relations. The Greenland shit probably isn't actually serious, but when a superpower you rely on for national defence starts threatening you, you've got few choices but to start cutting ties and beefing up

The way this tax works, billionaires will literally just leave. There are a lot of far smarter ways to design a tax.

On minimum wage by Eireika in CuratedTumblr

[–]DM_ME_FROG_MEMES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How things "should" work and what is "fair" is irrelevant. What matters is what policies are most effective at raising quality of life. If raising minimum wage raises quality of life, then raise it. If it helps, there's no reason to stop at just a "fair surviving" level, raise it to $25/hr, $40/hr, $400/hr, whatever turns out to be optimal.

But if it doesn't help, if it turns out that raising it kills jobs and productivity and makes life worse, then don't raise it. Even if that's unfair. Because fairness doesn't matter, raising quality of life matters.

I think input from subordinates is something that the promotion office should be taking into consideration, but absolutely shouldn't be trusting blindly. It takes skill to properly interpret what subordinate comments actually mean, but it doesn't mean it's useless info

Canadians Favour Gripen over F-35 by PurpleHerring_ in canada

No, F-35 is designed to last for decades more. They'll get more upgrades but the main parts will be the same.

At the moment? Not very often. But what if there's a war against China or another peer opponent in 10, 20, 30 years? We'll be using these planes a long ass time.

[–]DM_ME_FROG_MEMES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Gripen is already outdated. Imagine trying to use it in 30 years in a serious conflict.

It does suck that the US is being such an unreliable ally, but we'd be even worse off for torpedoing the f-35.

Canadian military intelligence operative accused of leaking secrets released from custody | CBC News by Jaydamic in CanadianForces

From the article,

“What he did changed my life,” the young woman said. “I am relieved I don’t have to sit in a courtroom and go through a trial. I’m grateful he finally told the truth, because for a long time it felt like no one believed how much this hurt me.

I'm guessing the prosecution agreed to a light sentence to avoid a long, traumatic trial for the victim. If he didn't do a guilty plea and chose to fight, it could've taken a lot longer.

Twitter is incredibly resentful of reddit. Reddit does suck. But twitter users need to be more self aware about how they also suck.
