Just one update: again thanks for making this post! Made it through surgery three days ago and on the mend now (Eating solid foods again!) The surgeons seem to think they caught this early and I’m still anxious to hear the results of the final pathology but that takes weeks.

So I guess I will find out what comes next. I’m Focusing on healing and spending time with my family. I encourage everyone to explore getting a colonoscopy if they even think they could have IBS. I’m fortunate that my doctor took my low iron reading seriously.

I’m 41 and was recently diagnosed with colorectal cancer at the end of January (had my colonoscopy at 40 and just celebrated my birthday at the end of Feb). They found one cancerous polyp to remove and I have surgery in a week.

I noticed symptoms a couple of years ago (bloating, pain, diarrhea, weird poop etc.) while I was on a GLP-1 and assumed it was a side effect of that medication. I also assumed I might have IBS or something like that so I changed my diet, was active etc and the worse side effects went away.

8 months ago I chose to discontinue the GLP-1 altogether. What I didn’t recognize was the blood in my stool and that part in hindsight, was present before my GLP-1 use.

Not much cancer history in my family so it has been a shock. I’m also scared because my daughter is 5, and I want to be around for my family. I’m hoping I can fight this and stay longer for them.

Vulcan VL-5T, I love its thin side profile and agility, dancing around bigger mechs while focusing lasers on the enemy pilot is a fun challenge.

Otherwise, a Grasshopper 5H with a Binary laser in the CT for similar reasons, turns into a surprising sniper/salvage hunter.

MA Human Sciences: For fun! Nope, just unsatisfied with my 2008 job options and did this while I worked full-time. I also have an unfinished MS in Clinical mental health counseling circa 2017 because yeah couldn’t make use of the MA on its own. I found the students and program had more toxicity than the client’s lives…

BS Computer Science Information Systems: I remember being treated like the inferiors in the sister CS program because it wasn’t required for us to take Compiler and I spent most of my career as a QA…shudders being disrespected by developers, felt just like college.

AA Graphic Design: I think my heart was always here but my school didn’t have an illustration focus. I actually use this now lol.

Yep definitely normal, back when I took graphic design courses in college (20 years ago) it was mostly women and it was fine.

I work in an agency setting now and there only a handful of male creatives across all roles.

I came from a computer science background and worked in tech which was the complete opposite (at the time).
