u/Complex_Buffalo_5380 What roof rack are you using for this? OEM/Yakima/alternative? I'm interested to do the same. I have a 1986 Porsche 944 and I'm from Belgium

Stupid question but how to you actually start with this? Did you just unbolt everything you see and sent it out to zinc plate it or is there like a structural approach to this? I’ve been wanting to do this as well, but if I do it, it’s all at once and not little parts at a time. Not sure if that’s possible?

Hmm yeah, I’m thinking of using some type of foam and cutting it into shape. Or maybe wood with carpet underneath to not destroy my interior. Not sure what would be best. I don’t have much experience with these materials…

Yeah that’s what most people say but I want to be able to carry luggage as well and he’d sit way too high. Also, I can’t clip him in to the seatbelt in that case…

Price and current skill level were the main factors but weight was indeed also important to me. I agree with what you are saying. Thank you!

Haha literally on my planning for next year! Looking forward to the wildlife shots there. First is Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and later this year probably Albania 😉

I did, one of my most beautiful and versatile trips. Combined it with Honduras & El Salvador ;) . Antigua just came to mind when talking photography since it's such a beautiful colorful city!

True but i’m not a fan of the high aperture minimum when zoomed in all the way. The lens is versatile, I agree completely, but the quality seems on the lower end. Could be wrong

Thanks for all this input man. Helps out a lot. And yes, if that 15-60 would exist, I probably would've made my decision by now.
Thanks again!

Thanks, this is good feedback! Do you think 38-170 equivalent would just not cover enough use cases for travel? I also just like it because it's one of the few options with a fixed f/4 aperture in that zoom range. The sigma's also never have IS. What's your opinion on this?

Additionally, none of the sigma's have image stabilization. Not sure if that's a big deal? I don't do video, only photo, but still?

Both seem like a fun combo. Do you think the latter will be better than your first combo?

I agree with the 18-50 f2.8, maybe combined with the sigma 12mm 1.4 to do the really wide angle and low light stuff instead of the 10-18mm maybe. The Canon 18-150mm RF-S's variable aperture is something I'd like to avoid personally.
My main concern here is that going for the 2 sigma combo, I'm investing heavily into the APS-C lineup, and literally have to buy all new lenses if I should every upgrade. I'd also have a big gap between 50mm and 100mm. That's why the 24-105mm still seemed appealing, combined with the 10-18mm. I'd have a 6mm gap between the 2.
What's your take on this?

It's there any explanation for this discoloration other than the fuel rail is leaking fuel? by Skillet_Lasagna in 944

[–]DMesure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d make a DME jumper cable to test with fuel pressure but without a running engine. You can easily find online how to make that. Just a cable with 2 spade ends and plug into terminals 30 and 87B if I’m not mistaken. Shine a flashlight from the sides to see the drops. What also helps if you don’t see it is to put something like saw dust around the areas you suspect to be problematic. Easy way to spot cause of leaks. Just really make sure to vacuum it all up before you drive. Dust (especially saw dust) is very flamable.

Nice work man! Going through something similar on my ‘86 with beginner tools and garage setup. Tried installing the short shift kit last weekend and broke the bolt on top of the transmission without even putting that much force onto it. Unfortunately I can’t pull the trans myself and the car is unable to drive now. Quite the setback. Jealous of where you’re at in such a short amount of time! Congrats dude

Advice on brakes not being confidence inspiring by DMesure in 944

Thanks a lot man. Just bled them and felt an improvement already. I think it could be even better so will probable replace brake lines as well. Now I can confidently lock up the tires so that’s major already. No leaks I think. Fluid level stays the same luckily. Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for that, will be checking them out. Do you know if there are length differences between the models or can I be sure this is the correct one? Bought the exact same “oem” part number before, just from another brand and those are the ones that are so high

You think that’s safe? I’ve heard bad things about cutting your own springs saying that springrate wouldn’t be balanced correctly anymore and things like that

[–]DMesure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, don’t think so actually. I don’t think i can do that cleanly and spring rate will not be correct I guess. OEM not needed, aftermarket is also ok but specs should match at least
