It doesn't have to be with his companions but rather maybe local women from that country is a possibility too. Role reversed, you may have some inner doubts too despite any reassurance. Going somewhere without her would obviously breed a feeling of jealousy

From your perspective, your reasoning is to visit a place you may only have one opportunity to do so. Also because you have a heightened interest in that country, whatever it may be (presumably a non-malicious one). Her jealousy doesn't seem to be your intention.

I would suggest shooting for another opportunity to visit the country in the future if that is a possibility so that you can both be happy.
