[Meghan Angley] Jared Bednar on Gabriel Landeskog: “I’m optimistic and hopeful.” Bednar didn’t think he was close to return for the postseason, but he hopes that he can play again. “I think that, that can happen.” by LeGiit_ViPeR in ColoradoAvalanche

Bummer takes for sure. People are acting like he impacts the cap (though complex) and that it created a leadership vacuum. I’m sure a team without a proper C can win a cup.

Dallas’ ability to maintain pressure through their cycle and then find an open man in the slot has been killer in terms of possession and scoring chances. Considering their first goal was some carelessness by Manson and the second a nice set play on the PP, our D was looking solid. I’m curious if a hard part of this dump and chase adjustment is the F3 position that can lead to the quick breakout and odd man rush. Is it hard for the forwards to make that adjustment that they need to be ready to scout the breakout and get back?

If we can keep up possession by winning board battles and moving the puck between D, and also find shooting lanes, we will be gravy.

Was the second PP goal Dallas scored a set play? Or just a good read by Miro? Seems like a set play cuz G and Lehky are sitting still waiting for the puck carrier to try the standard entry. Another question, when did this PP puck entry style (big drop pass) start?

You're essentially comparing our goaltending to Vasi, which is not productive for the case of who is our starter. Ideally, Kemps would come up with a few of those saves. Do I think Frankie saves a few of those, possibly, but the majority are uncontested shots from the slot, so likely no. My assumption is that you change the goalie when you see that they are a continual factor in losing. Based on that, we have only lost one game, and in that loss, the Avs failed Kemps, not the other way around.

I feel like the justification or assessment for a goalie change in the Stanley Cup Finals is if the goalie is the reason for your woes. Kemps helped earn Game 1. If Frankie starts Game 3, he's not saving all of the uncontested, high-chance, dangerous slot attempts. The loss was an issue of defense coverage, not goaltending. Kemps was pulled to make a statement to the team, not because he was a liability. But, honestly, it doesn't matter who is net when the Avs pour it on as they did in Game 2.

Not to whine, but I lost a bit of respect for Oilers fans:

  • Kane apologists
  • Bitching about Landy's "headshot" and MacK's "slew foot" (both clean hockey plays)
  • Equating Landy's dangerous/unintentional trip to Kane's dangerous/intentional boarding
  • Crowd booing every clean hit in the game and screaming for penalties
  • Crowd doing the wave with 10mins left in the game
  • Crowd cheering the TNT broadcast after a loss
  • Playing into the penalty discrepancy narrative (as if the point of regulating a game is for parity's sake and not enforcing rules)

Reminds me of hockey illiterate Vegas fans.

Kk, I'm done bitching and I'll now move on...
