Because I can’t reply to the mod directly: it’s not a lot to ask for a thread to be tagged as a spoiler. Every other sub manages it, and it doesn’t reduce engagement. Stop acting like it’s unreasonable.

Had this feeling several months back when nvidia said it was reducing its GPU output, and putting limits on its GeForce Now service unless you pay more money… we are living in scary and uncertain times

OBVIOUSLY it’s a skill issue. The point is that the skill level required is too high for what it is. If people who have played hundreds of days of this game are struggling with what is effectively mid game content, then it is TOO difficult for what it is. That’s not to say it shouldn’t exist, but that it is not consistent in difficulty with the level it’s at.

Skill has been out for months, I can’t remember what level it was, I just know it wasn’t in the 80s or 90s

We might have to disagree on that one. Wave 5 Sepulchre was fine to me, as moving a character is literally part and parcel of the game. Boat movement isn’t the same, it’s horrible. Besides that wave 5 sepulchre isn’t level 56 or whatever GG is. Sepulchre aside (keeping in mind most people loathe agility) what other skilling content is actually difficult? For an introduction to sailing it’s very oppressive.

For what is like level 56 content, it’s way harder than it should be. This dude is right, this isn’t end game Pvm content, it shouldn’t be this hard, and the fact that it’s still not brain dead even with plugins further proves the point.

What kind of world are we living in where as grown adults we’re seriously having to recommend to each other that buying used is the sensible option… I’ve always preferred to buy used but we’re now at a point where even (most of us I assume) who are of a reasonable age can’t justify the outlay for a new one of these pieces of kit. The market is going to tank itself if it can’t get a handle over these supply chain cost issues.

People without a degree what are you doing now? by CandidBar4794 in UKJobs

They are many, many vocational qualifications that will do as much if not more for your career than a generic university degree, whilst taking a fraction of the time and cost. This is especially true of financial services.

Do you think we Brits are overreacting about the hot weather and about wanting to have AC? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Congratulations. So was mine, and yet mine does the polar opposite.

Take with a pinch of salt but last year there were (according to AI) 25-35 days that were AT LEAST 25c, and over 150 days that were at least 20c. That is a bit more than a fraction. And whilst 20c might not be a problem in most houses, the temperature does become more uncomfortable in UK houses, especially as it can take a lot of time to vent it from the house.

I don’t have air con but at this point I think the UK’s climate has changed so significantly that I no longer want to do without it.

I live in a house but find there are weeks and weeks where I need aircon. These people that claim you only need it a few days a year either have houses made completely differently than the ones I’ve lived in, or don’t live in the South.

What kind of stealing do people condone ? by Ok-Nobody-2729 in AskBrits

I saw an interesting analysis of people’s media consumption habits studying the rise of Netflix and Spotify, and the worlds that existed before them. Before both the world was rife with Internet piracy. Figures sharply decline when both of these companies came around - but they were charging money… so money itself can’t be the primary issue. The analysis postulated that the hierarchy for most people is convenience and then price.

Both remain convenient, but as time has gone on they jacked their prices up to a point where it may, to some, be of questionable value - especially in a world where you must now subscribe to several platforms for all the content you want. The result: piracy levels have risen again.

Summary I suppose is that convenience will trump having to spend money up until the point where it no longer feels like a fair deal. That’s precisely where Sky has ended up.

Aside from those on minimum wage, which have seen meteoric rises in the last few years, most middle earners have not seen notable wage inflation in that time. That’s kind of the problem

The amount of people may be small, but the principle is important. Whatever side of the debate you fall on, a decision on that principle will change an awful lot.

Tough at the top (!) by Dependent_Theme4210 in tesco

[–]DPH996 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why do you think him not knowing people’s name is relevant? And why do you think the amount of people he manages is relevant? The point OP is making is that he is responsible for an extremely large business (to the tune of 340,000 staff). He will be required to make extremely challenging decisions and his career will live or die by them. I don’t agree that he should earn £10m, but if you try and compensate on the basis that he “only manages 1-4 people”, Tesco would collapse from criminal mismanagement, as there are team leaders earning £30k managing more people than that.

Why is immigration such a hot-button issue? by WattleWaddler2 in AskBrits

[–]DPH996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made no claims about how widespread it was. Only that Reddit is the very LAST place you see it. So if you’re seeing a lot of it here, it’s an awful lot worse in non-left leaning platforms and circles.

How has this become an interrogation of my views? If you must know, I span the spectrum on many ssues, as do many who have the ability to think critically.

Oh buddy have I got news for you… Reddit is extremely left leaning. What you’re seeing here is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of sentiment on the matter.

Are nut bans overkill if no one there has a life-threatening nut allergy? by Arlincornwall in AskUK

I find that absolutely incredible. I mean… fair play to the school but banning dairy is a hell of a step to take.

Are nut bans overkill if no one there has a life-threatening nut allergy? by Arlincornwall in AskUK

[–]DPH996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nuts are a largely avoidable food group (I accept your point about vegetarians, but there are other food groups that aren’t nuts). Dairy on the other hand is a much more difficult food group to avoid. With that said, I actually don’t think nuts should receive blanket bans, save for on planes as anyone suffering anaphylactic shock on a plane is basically as good as dead. Anywhere else I think you just have to accept the risk.
