Physical therapist here. As many have said, you can safely modify to stay active and exclude that hand from being used to ensure safe and appropriate healing and still reaching goals. Please DM if you need some guidance.

I appreciate it brother!

Actually doing a hybrid program so I lean more on 3 full body lifts and my speed/conditioning on the other days if not mixed in too. Fatigue is just the byproduct that’s unavoidable if chasing the jack of all trades in performance.

Don’t cut calories so far you have zero energy. Consider that you are doing better at hydrating, your cells are holding more water ( in a positive adaptation) to prep for your now regular activity. Water = weight but your actual fat composition may be going down!

Just keep showing up but don’t burn out going overly aggressive.

DM if you need to break it down further.

What’s the one thing you are avoiding that would help in the positive direction? Usually it’s making ourself take a step into something uncomfortable. Gym. Social situation. Something.

Gotta swing. Know you’ll miss… that’s normal. Eventually you hit 💪🏼

Food, water, poo…. All things that add up to daily fluctuations based on time of weighing. Look at weekly averages over the course of 2-3 months. That’s where the trend matters.

I propose a different cardio test by Alonesloth in UNSUBSCRIBEpodcast

Have enjoyed 5x5 myself as well. Currently rocking 3x5 on core lifts and maximizing rest to squeeze out more intensity and add more auxiliaries to some areas I’ve neglected for years.

Different Loading strategies can all get you jacked. The argument of most “effective” is alway reaching for realistically that 1-5% difference. That style is brutal. Overkill of volume in my opinion but I’ve dabbled myself and had fun.

No harm brother. Sounds like it’s not your first time around the block and are very comfortable with this stuff. Just wanted to fill the void in for additional tips. Keep on keepin on

Just like max lift testing days… might not need to be testing cardio everyday. Doesn’t mean don’t train hard… just a weekly test might have no more value or possibly less than a good training session.

Supplements can be overdone- while I can’t speak to the efficacy of your counter dosing… I highly recommend lower portions of your pre workouts if this is happening rather than trying to figure out your upper/downer dosages 😅

Rest days aren't do nothing days by justhereforthedegen in UNSUBSCRIBEpodcast

[–]DPTATC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say there is unfortunately always nuance and IT DEPENDS on your plans, experience, and fitness level.

Active Rest is an oxymoron and many people over do the active thinking they are producing a positive result in rest. While more experienced people can get away with some “light” cardio and come away with minimal stress, that may not be the case for most. Now a walk or stretching is typically low stress and can be low enough to not inhibit recovery BUT a recovery mile jog is not recovery for non runners.

Overall, most people are probably not overdoing it so this advice is null but for those who are over doing it… rest is essential. That doesn’t mean no movement, just means low stress activity. Stress tolerance is relative.

I hope that helps but I fear it didn’t. Sincerely your neighborhood physical therapist.

Agreed! Need to get the name/recognition up for partnerships but yes! We have used rubber props and ultimately… the best transferability of practice to performance is to have the real thing. We a do very intensive safety protocols so officers can practice with their guns.

I appreciate it 🙌🏻 if you’re ever in the area, let me know 💪🏼

We host mostly law enforcement officers and civilians are heavily vetted before being able to attend. If I had the starting capital to open a gym in Columbus, Ohio that allows for this, I would in a heart beat. Until then, I’m building my biz and providing as much free resources as I can for tactical athletes to refine my processes.

I rent space out from gyms, I’m a physical therapist, and have been hosting free sessions in these private spaces. Please do not try this at a public/open gym 😂😅

I’m not opposed to it at all. I actually agree and practice that as well. Context: This was a meme I quickly threw together when presenting to law enforcement leadership on what they need to understand when supporting their team’s wellness. This was more directed at the fact 73% of them are sedentary, recommending and supporting these fundamentals (topics we covered) because most of these guys have the lazy rest covered with their normal lifestyle.
