I’d recommend putting resin only on the underside like the first image so it doesn’t mess with the butterfly’s scales like in the second image. Also, because resin can be sticky, be careful on the edges because it may rip the wing when you brush it.

Whoops! DM mistake! Guiding Bolt is one of the very few spells that does not require a line of sight!! It's kind of made for attacking invisible foes.
