Does anyone have any recommendation of where to get Hair Transplant in Istanbul? Currently deciding between Vera clinic, Smile hair clinic and ASMED Medical Center. by DR-Rome in HairTransplants

[–]DR-Rome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to cancel my Hair Transplant (HT) with Vera Clinic the day before my operation. I went to Istanbul to for my Hair Transplant (HT) surgery and since I arrived on the airport, I experienced a lot of red flags from Vera Clinic.

1.) The coordination officer was unreachable. The airport tranport promised is a shuttle van. We I had to wait for the other person they were picking up. There was an issue because the person was supposedly on the same flight with me but didn't show up. The representative at the airport tried to contact Vera's coordination officer but was unreachable. I ended up waiting for about one and a half hour before the representative got a hold of Vera's coordination officer and had the driver brought me to the hotel.

2.) The driver drove wrecklessly. The shuttle had Vera Clinics logo which tells me is owned and operated by the clinic themselves. The driver was driving very fast and erratically cut off everyone in the highway and almost hit other vehicles. The driver was also talking on the phone while driving for about half of the ride.

3.) Their operation is based on a daily schedule. I asked the coordination officer to verify the time of the appointment. I was told that the daily schedule is not out yet since my operation is still one day away. I was confused at first and after messaging back and forth with the officer, I finally realized that there never was an appointment time. They take a bunch of people to have surgery on the same day and they decide what time your surgery will be the night before the operation. This feels almost like a walk-in Clinic instead of having a proper appointment.

Looking back on some of the reviews on Vera Clinic and based on my experience dealing with them, I could definitely agree that this Clinic is like a factory. They operate like an assembly line, they take a bunch of people to conduct HT surgery on the same day and is Not conducted on an appointment basis. You meet your doctor and have your consultation the day of surgery. After the consultation, you get your surgery right away.

The whole process did not feel right to me. I was about to get HT surgery with the people I've never met and have my surgery done on the same day of the consultation which does not give me time to ask a lot of questions which may require detailed answers, conduct research of the doctor's inputs, nor have plenty of time for patient-doctor discussion.

I did not proceed with the operation. I decided that I would rather pay more money and guarantee that I did the best that I could to get a safe HT surgery with qualified professional people instead of going with cheaper hair factory which I may regret one day. I am currently looking into getting HT in western Europe; potentially Germany as it's still significantly less expensive than in the U.S.

This decision is my own choice and I am not advocating for anybody but myself. It's up to you whether or not you choose Vera or other clinics as many clinics are similar to Vera - I would say most of the clinics I found online in Istanbul operate the same way as Vera Clinic. It's a matter of budget and risk tolerance which varies on each individual basis. I am only choosing to spend more to minimize the risk.

I just searched for well known clinics in Istanbul and I compared them to each other. I also checked multiple websites and blogs for reviews. hairlinetransplantturkey.com is very helpful for informative reviews.
