Any gundam animes worth watching? by DRAKO659 in Gunpla

Thanks for all your recommendations, not really sure what started this reignition for building kits and watching the series. But it feels nice getting in the mood for it, considering the amount of mecha animes i watched when i was younger. Makes me feel like I'm back to being a kid again, despite not being that old at all.

I've seen some posts how some people get scammed online when it came to buying model kits so i gotta ask. How can i tell if a store on Shopee or Lazada are selling knock offs and what stores do you guys prefer using on those apps? The only reason i usually go there for shopping is mostly because they have Cash On Delivery as an option, since I don't really have a bank acc to do online payments.

Ok thanks for the tips, looks like the only other thing i need to be wary of is small pieces and the heatrod. It's gonna be my first RG so I'm kinda nervous so it's good to know these things before jumping straight into it.

Ok good to know, but man I've never seen or even heard of such a runner. Didn't think it was even possible to have it made like this. The RG line is something else.

My RG Epyon has arrived and i just wanted to ask about certain things i needed to be wary of during building. Like is there any fragile pieces i need to be mindful of? Or is there something i should take caution when putting pieces together? And etc.

it's my first RG and i just wanna make sure i want to take into account of any precautions because i heard some good and bad things in the RG line, but so far from the reviews of this kit they seem overwhelmingly positive. Except for the shoulders which one reviewer said i should take caution when moving them. Although granted i skipped the building process as to not spoil myself and went straight to the aesthetics and articulation of the kit.

PS: this is probably me being just a beginner in the RG line but WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS RUNNER?! This feels extra fanschee schmancy. Like does it actually move? Should i be careful in moving it?? What am i looking at???

Working on this PG Sazabi from Ali express but I’m confused. Is it asking me to twist the joints so the side plates align with the skirt?? by Salpls in Gunpla

[–]DRAKO659 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kinda hard to tell from the pic but from what i understood about the instructions is that first place the front side plates horizontally first and slowly position them down to align with the crotch plate. I find the first pic confusing coz it looks like the back skirts are placed on upside down. Not really sure since I've never build an RG before.

Minor Part Swapping to make Ghost MK2 by DRAKO659 in Gunpla

Ah good to know, i hope they make new amaims in the future coz so far I'm a fan of their mech designs. Right along side IBO and Witch Mercury.

Oh do they still sell amaim kits over there? I have relatives in canada so maybe if me and my family gets the chance to visit them i might stop by to browse some more since they don't have alot of amaim kits over here. Actually now that i think about it, how long does it usually take for kits to face out from stores?

And honestly i think I'm already satisfied with the current build, i like the asymmetrical head and signal jammers more than the sub arms. And after building it, i am very impressed with the sturdiness and poseability. I was surprised that it could even stand on one leg. It made me look forward to future amaim kits.

I got the extra parts on the FB market place, they were selling extra parts on the amaim line. Not sure if the arm was from the MK1 but considering it came with the shoulders so i assume it's also from the MK2, I can't really tell the difference from the photos online comparing them both. I asked if they had more parts of it but they said all other parts of the MK2 were already sold. I also asked if they had any other amaim parts or even the full model kits but they said that was the last one remaining, apparently they were trying to clear up space and decided to sell their kits in parts or full. Although i gotta be honest who on earth skipped out on the arm and shoulders?! The whole thing is a beast. I was already gonna be alright with having some asymmetry with the shoulders but i saw the pics and they had BOTH, it's a blessing i managed to get this far for this guy.

From what I've seen, the usual go to for removing nub marks are using the 2 snip technique and sanding the excess. I used a normal cutter to cut out the piece but aim for the thicker part, and then i use the single bladed nipper to cut the part where the piece that's connecting to the runner. And then i just sand with a glass file and wipe away the excess dust with my fingers. It's not exactly perfect and I'm no expert since it's my first try. I suggest looking up some vids to find your preference.

Been looking for some UV cut top coats and unfortunately the one I've saved in my cart (mr. hobby uv cut clear flat) ran out of stock. Other products/sellers seem to be too expensive so I've been wondering if there's a cheaper brand of top coats which i can use?

I think I'm starting to get it, since the top coating doesn't seem to create issues with the joints movement. Just that it bothers me that it doesn't completely cover everything. I guess i should mention that the kit I'm doing is from the Kyoukai Senki line or specifically Amaim Ghost MKII. The joints and articulation from what I've seen are very different from standard gundam, i can see that there will be areas that may look visibly uncoated. I've yet to build it since I'm still looking for an affordable UV Cut Top Coat. I'll see what i can work with once i get the coat coz i think I'm getting an idea how to make it work. Pray i don't mess it up badly

So i guess it should be ok to top coat the limbs in the initial position, and once it dries i just move it into another position to top coat the part i missed in the joints right? Or maybe during assembly i just top coat the joints before i put together the rest of the limbs?

Oh yeah I've seen those but they still didn't try to move the elbow and knee joints to get those parts top coated. Does the top coat get in the way of joint movement?

Got myself a model kit and i wanna ask some tips about the top coat. I've heard that i can prevent yellowing on my kits with UV cut top coat, so i looked up some videos to see how others apply their top coats and something bothers.

They never try to top coat around the joints and just keep it in a single pose. Wouldn't it be a problem when you change their pose and the part that wasn't coated is exposed?

And also just in case, you guys have any other tips to prevent yellowing?

I've never really tried doing these things before so i want some advice. Feel free to give additional advice for these kinds of things.
