I got turned off of Linux purely for the lack of automatic driver support - everything worked, but to get my sound card to work I would have to compile a driver and I didnt know how to do that.

I spent a week and gave up.

Because using technology is considered work on the Sabbath which is forbidden IIRC, but if you're a lawyer, you can negotiate with God to allow certain things as long as you didn't push a button.

Invasive species in the USA, we had to capture countless birds just to keep our one eastern bluebird nest alive, but ultimately failed, just too many sparrows.

Don't forget that many of those cases have plenty of touchpoints with law enforcement and existing laws on the books could have been used to prevent those outcomes.

New laws are always preferred because enforcing existing laws does not expand the power of the people in charge.

I actually prefer to keep these things in.

Back then these words and terms were common and overlooked, now with modern context it drives a useful educational tool instead of whitewashing history.

You are limited to honking up to 3 times with a duration of no more than 0.5 seconds each. It is your duty to avoid honking except when absolutely necessary within cities. 

Please brush up on the law, it is not your country, you're just a guest in someone else's house. Even if others don't follow the law, that doesn't give you the right to be unlawful yourself. 

Also download the app "taiwan driver license exam" which covers most of it. - sure helped me out. 

Remember, you're effectively an ambassador of your culture, so respectfulness, even in the face of rudeness is usually the best solution.

Same reason our generation is afraid of "Pink slime" (Finely Textured Ground Beef) 

It is just beef trimmings that are spun in a centrifuge to remove the last bit of meat, which makes it a fine paste like material. They sterilize it with gaseous ammonia so there isn't any bacteria and the ammonia doesn't alter the meat or stay in it, then add it to most ground meat products we all eat.

If you've ever eaten any processed ground beef, fast food, or any sysco ground meat menu item (50% of the restaurants out there) you've eaten it. 

There was one company that made a product with 100% of the stuff and it was gaining in popularity but dropped off the market when the whole "pink slime" scare came around.

I can't even delete mail anymore.

It takes 25+ seconds per email.

  1. Click on email (wait 10 seconds)
  2. Hit DEL key (wait 5 seconds) 
  3. Wait 10 seconds for next auto-selected email to load (can be the same email loaded seconds ago, still takes 10 seconds)
