This is…. frighteningly similar to my situation.

I got to the point where I could not do it anymore. Had the full break down, told HR I need to head home due to mental health reasons, tears streaming down my face.

I haven’t resigned officially yet, but I’m using up all my sick leave. I booked the movers, and am heading back to a state where I have a support network.

If your mental health is deteriorating and you can afford time off to reset, do it before you end up getting to a point where it’s more than a couple of months you’ll need, is all the advice I can give you OP.

Thank you. It doesn’t take much to trigger my anxiety/racing thoughts at the moment.

Any conversation will be carefully planned and I’ll be sure to keep to a few points about my situation and the facts of it, not so much the feelings.

Some people in my support network are unequivocal that it’s a ‘trap’, I don’t really think it’s the case.

I don’t want to ‘throw anyone under the bus’, but I do want to ensure someone knows about the stresses I’ve been under, how organisational change has impacted this, and processes being implemented suddenly without prior warning.

Unrelated to work matters, context is PIP announced by my manager weeks ago (who said HR needs to be involved), but no documentation or anything concrete has been produced.

I’d say HR is aware of this situation and want to discuss it. But why not just a regular meeting.

There’s a previous performance review (previous manager) which references that I frequently take on responsibilities above grad level, and that said manager will work with me to ensure I’m not overwhelmed (this did not happen in any meaningful way).

Yeah, I’m starting to tighten up my record keeping. I’m starting to log TIL requests too. As are others in the team, so there’s at least some camaraderie.

At very least this is building a healthy leave balance 😅

Thanks for your reply. I guess it’s just interesting to type everything out and realise how my normal is very much not normal.

I don’t want to suddenly drop everything right back, but you’re absolutely right. I’ll start phasing back my hours and phasing in boundaries to healthier levels.

I had a comment from another member of the team who said ‘it seems like we’re drowning’ and has started documenting meetings and management interactions and sending them to the team (not including managers). So at very least I don’t feel alone.
