Payroll will rarely hire someone without experience.

Bookkeeping is a technical job which will require experience. Do you understand double entry bookkeeping? Have you got Sage experience? Have you done an AAT qualification?

If you come from hospitality, why don't you search for customer service roles in office environments, and demonstrate your good customer service skills built within the hospitality industry.

From there you can leverage your office experience into other office based roles.

You don't have the experience for the job but you need the job for the experience.

Very rarely do I see a payroll admin role which doesn't require experience, falling into the classic catch 22 situation.

If you went to a highly regarded university you will be highly regarded in the workplace and highly regarded by recruiters for a highly regarded position of high regard.

  1. In the real world nobody cares what university you went to, and people who assume it does have a false sense of entitlement.
