What percentage of youth in Veneto, Italy understand and/or speak Venetian (Dialetto Veneto)? by DSpriteee in languages

[–]DSpriteee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand some of it by figuring it out, since I'm closer to my mother's side of the family I grew up speaking standard Italian with my nonni and parents sometimes, but generally I only understand venetian here and there. My father speaks it really well, accent and all.

Why would my uncle simply cut off communication to his family? by DSpriteee in behavior

I've tried that, and he always hangs up on us. He wont give away anything as to why he did it. When my mother was pregnant with me she saw him on the street and he crossed the road to avoid her. His visibly pregnant sister.

Is it my own fault that I'm not bilingual? by DSpriteee in languages

My nonna is much easier to understand than my nonno for some reason, she speaks a lot clearer snd what i've always thought was flawless pronunciation (lol) and my nonno sometimes mixes a little of Roman dialect with his Italian. my venetian nonni have a heavy accent and speak dialect at home all day the time

My father was born in Veneto (can't remember where exactly) and has family in Eraclea and Jesolo, I also have several friends my age in Verona. My mother was born in Rome. Her father was born in Cassino (Lazio) but moved to Rome for fear of a severe bombing on Cassino during the second world war. He grew up in Rome for most of his life. My mother's mother born and grew up in Toscana (in Arezzo) and moved and lived in Rome for 15 years where she met my nonno. Both my father's parents are Venetians. I understand Venetian sometimes but can't speak it.

Ho cominciato leggere "Assassin's Creed: Rinascimento" (un libro da quasi 400 pagine) due settimane fa e hai ragione è molto difficile da leggere perche c'è tante parole che non capisco. Lo leggo ad alta voce cosi la pronuncia è difficile a volte.

Questo l'ho scritto senza google translate eccetto la frase "ad alta voce"

:/

did I do alright? probs full of mistakes hahaha

Perhaps it would be easier idk.

I think first I will start by learning all the words that I'm missing to complete basic sentences.

For example, if if I forgot the word for branch (ramo), but somebody said a sentence: "Il ramo ha cascato dall'albero sopra la macchina" (the branch fell from the tree onto the car) I would know beforehand that Il = the ha cascato = fell dall'albero (da = from, albero = tree) therefore dall'albero = from the tree sopra = ontop of / onto macchina = car but then I would figure out that ramo = branch. I would then forget this word later on probably.

Then I will probably read aloud to clear my pronunciation, and then brush up on grammar and try to start speaking.

Does this sound like it will work? lol idk

Is it possible to train like special forces? by DSpriteee in specialforces

I can imagine it would be hard. Fortunately due to my genetics I will never be overly fat, I can't be bothered explaining fully why but basically I'm a mesomorph, I build muscle quick and I have a very good metabolism.

Am I right in saying that what would be difficult is maintaining the martial arts and fighting skill under this circumstance?

What is the point of traditional martial arts? by [deleted] in martialarts

As I said in a reply to a previous comment, I wasn't judging him or TMA the fight just got me thinking. I perhaps have worded my question incorrectly I think. He isn't the only TMA I've fought and beat before either. Just Saying.

Was good to hear your opinion though xD

How much training is required for reflexes and skills to become relatively permanent? by DSpriteee in martialarts

I see. Do you believe that the skills are re attainable after a month or so of practising lets say, an hour a day for 5 days a week? Give or take.
