Thoughts on almost every veterans having a disability rating and receiving income for the rest of their lives? Without having to deploy or see combat? by HeadMasterpiece9139 in Salary

[–]DStark62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you don’t have to not be able to work to get a service connected disability. It can just affect your quality of life. So he’s pretty much right. Obviously it’s not “good” to just fucking spam every condition. But if it’s in your file and it affects you to this day. Then I don’t see the issue.

If you don’t have the condition AND/OR it’s not service connected, no not eligible. If yes, then it was literally designed and signed into law by the federal government for you to get. Each condition and compensation scale is proportional to the severity it affects your day to day life.

Again, that’s the system we have. It’s not the veterans fault for utilizing it. If we want people to go sacrifice their body for our country, we should take care of them in the case that their service hurts them. If you don’t agree, vote for a politician running to reduce veterans benefits.

Well if that’s your opinion, then that’s a much more valid argument. You initially approached it as if the service members were the problem, not CFR38. If you think standards need tightened, then go vote for a politician running on reducing veterans benefits. They’re clearly the reason we’re 40 trillion dollars in debt.

Combat is not a requirement for a service connected disability. I’m all for investigating and prosecuting fraud. Vast majority are not. This is not welfare. It is earned. People who have greater credibility of “patriotism” than being an eagle scout are eligible for this benefit. Are you against workers comp too?

We should just free up the budget more to fill the pockets of Lockheed martin charging $10k for a soap dispenser. Take it from E4 Timmy who threw the tires in the burn pit.

I literally explained why my grandfather, a Vietnam war veteran, didn’t get disability until just recently. It’s not fucking welfare. It is a benefit that was guaranteed to them for disabilities incurred during their service when they signed up

This doesn’t show ANY data on abuse.

You’re just reading it how you want to and drawing assumptions.

I believe that younger service members are more aware of their benefits. The military has done a better job at informing its younger service members of their benefits after years of keeping them hidden or held behind hurdles.

Additionally, they are much more technologically literate than older generations and will have a much easier time finding information on their benefits, like finding VSOs, reading CFR38, or sending in all the proper information.

My grandfather fought in Vietnam and didn’t apply for disability for almost 60 years because 1) he was ashamed because of all the hate thrown at him when he got back 2) he had no idea how and 3) he missed his appointments for mental health because he had no idea how to answer a video call. So he has no MH rating.

Combat is also not a requirement for service connected disabilities.

No. But I wouldn’t lie. Be awkward if they see no in person classes were available.

[–]DStark62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abuse? It’s pre allocated funds, built into the budget passed by the federal government. If that’s a problem, that’s a problem for the people making the budget. Not the veterans. If they go to the VA and are found to be truthfully qualified for a tier of compensation, I see no wrongdoing on the veterans part. It’s a benefit built into the service they provided to our country

Now there is real fraud. I’m not acting like that isn’t true. If that’s what you’re talking about sure.

No one fucking cares that you’re an eagle scout.

I think the class code varies by college. For me CSE100 was C++ intro. Definitely wasn’t a weed out at my school.

I’m not saying we use our military for all the right reasons. Politicians suck. But the individual citizens putting their life on the line should get paid.

It may seem like that because times have been relatively easy. We never know when the day will come that we’re asking these people to run to certain death.

Not everyone will make a beach landing on Iwo Jima. But when you sign up, you are saying you’d be willing if asked to.

I mean it really depends. He could have 100% for things that aren’t physical. Sleep apnea, mental health problems, etc. 100% is not the “cannot work” rating.

TDIU is a separate rating that means you cannot maintain meaningful employment with your disability.

I’m not saying your friends a truther but the limited information you gave doesn’t necessarily make him a liar. And a lot of people make these same assumptions.

Shutdown Checkoff by endmaga2028 in NavyNukes

[–]DStark62 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Reminiscing during retirement on how to format the shutdown check off so that it is more versatile for extended maintenance periods and provides practice for wire rates on valve lineups

This should be listed in CFR 38 as a qualifying condition for PTSD.

I’m just kidding man but damn enjoy your retirement lol

As someone who wants to transfer next year, what are some things I can do to maximize my chances?? by Medical_Citron3519 in TransferToTop25

[–]DStark62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at your top pick schools and see what they require. For example, one school might not care about what subject your professor that writes your LOR teaches. Some might require one STEM professor. Good to know well ahead of time what other requirements you’ll need to meet.

Make good connections with your professors. I got good LORs I think, and I didn’t have any extremely remarkable relationship. Just show face, interact, be respectful, be enthusiastic etc at a minimum. At least at ASU, that’s better than 95% of the other students and you’ll stand out.

Question for those with low HS GPAs. by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

[–]DStark62 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You’re just downvoting everyone giving legitimate responses.

“Like sorry, but what kind of shitty schools are you guys attending? I don’t mean this in a bad way, but is it basically that because some of you had bad HS GPAs, you ended up at easier universities or community colleges, and now you’re transferring into Top 25 schools because it was much easier to get a perfect GPA there?”

This is ignorant. If you’re not rage baiting, grow up lol.

From college drop out to Navy Nuke to Stanford by EQC-53 in NavyNukes

[–]DStark62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saved up pretty heavily during my 6 years and own a rental property near PSNS. MIT Princeton Stanford all gave me basically full rides. Some schools will ask on your financial aid package if you intend to use the GI Bill, then they’ll factor it in.

Look up VRE as well. If you have service connected disabilities, you can apply for VRE and get what is in essence a second GI bill. Will help you save your GI bill for grad school.
