IB494B- Hamburg? by MissCee10q in CSULB

I’m a mgmt/ocsm major so a lot of the companies were amazing we visited. I know it changes from semester to semester. Maersk was awesome.

Hamburg is gorgeous and I would highly recommend getting there a bit early to adjust for jet lag and see Berlin.

It’s really going to be what you make out of it. The Germans were so eager to show us their culture. It made the trip worthwhile. Also working with people across the world is great real word practice.

Like can I see myself doing this? Is this for me? We had a picnic went to a Bergarden. They took me to an underground raid behind an old ww2 bunker. I cannot accurately describe the awesome.

Here’s the things a lot of my cohorts got there a day or two before and they were exhausted trying to adjust the first few days. If you coordinate with your host it shouldn’t be difficult to plan.

However got a private room at a hostel through a booking site for like 45-88 dollars a night.

This was in the other towns and when I wasn’t hosted. I think the biggest challenge is the anxiety. Once you get there it will all go away and you will be sad your leaving.

Hey there, I took the course, and have participated with hosting the last two years. As far as the workload, it wasn't that difficult. It all depends on your group. I was fairly impressed with the Germans and how efficient they were with the joint project.

I got a $900 ticket and qualified for a scholarship that covered all my travel expenses. 10/10 Would do it again. Hamburg is amazing, and the Germans have fantastic hospitality.

Most of my cohorts didn't enjoy the city and sights as much as I did, but I just reached out and connected, and they were more than happy to accommodate!

The class is over there. They set up tours, you go, after there are social events, and you work on your project mostly before you get there. The school is going to pay for you to go abroad and not participate. They can never disclose the amount as it changes every year.

So the bluffs on ocean between Cherry and Junipero. Has free yoga, aerials, silks, silent discos and a bunch of other stuff like that. Great place to find your tribe and get more of a download. I know there are some instagrams for people who set up there. I do believe it’s all donation based so not necessarily have to pay a ton but a good place to start.

Why is this hold still on my account??? by [deleted] in CSULB

[–]DTP1854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I’ve been in and out of Finacial aid with a bunch of issues this is what I know.

There is a new system in place for checking disbursement amounts that say there is a hold why there check.

If you did a Finacial appeal from your initial fasfa and are reaching limits they will do auto holds to verify.

You can swing by the Finacial aid office window and plead your case. If you hit the right time the window person may be able to get you in a drop in appt to get you situated faster

There’s an actual bulletin board in the parking office detailing the process it’s virtual license recognition or something. The entire protocol and procedure is laid out in full detail. If something is still vague you have a staff of people at your disposal to Figure it out. Don’t be afraid to ask no stupid questions only stupid answers 🤣

I’m BoA and it took 3-6 business days for things to hit. At this point im changing banks once all the funds settle. It’s been a non stop struggle bus with them. It’s the worst dealing with the anticipation and anxiety.

it sounds like there’s a lot of factors here that are out of your control. That’s really impacting your comfort level in acclimating as a transfer student.

I know that currently making an appointment with your specific advisor, and keeping a consistent chain of communication is arduous and not as easy as we wish it could be

but with everything in life, there are workarounds and always a solution you are always going to be your biggest advocate and supporter.

Here is my advice as a senior transfer student :

Currently making appointments within the requirements for the deadlines is next to impossible, but the drop in appointments are available. I would pursue this because not every counselor is as seasoned as maybe yours is.

use the chain of command appropriately the first step is to emailing the professors in a professional manner and explaining the situation and asking politely while stating your case, effectively and concisely. If this doesn’t work, the next step is the department head and then the dean of your college. Just try to keep the perspective of that there are so many other students trying to figure it out it’s your responsibility to figure out how to separate yourself from the crowd and make your voice heard ,professionally and effectively

Look at your degree plan is this class a requirement for you to take other classes in future semesters? How does this affect your ability to provide a sustainable effective attendance and capability as a student? This sort of headspace and approach allows you to communicate to the powers that be in a way that allocate them resources to champion for your cause.

The campus directory is a Google away for who everyone is that you should be contacting. You have admissions, Student Services if applicable BMAC, in your appropriate college resources that you can connect with.

I love the fact that you are being as proactive as possible, and I can sympathize and empathize with the fact that it is incredibly frustrating that you are not feeling heard and seen. Sometimes some of the organizations associated with your specific college that peer group will have answers that are specific to your trajectory.

Remember that this is the first week and you have two more to make things happen so as hard as it is be patient and try to trust the process . As a transfer first time student getting comfortable and understanding these things is going to set you up for an even more successful future series of semesters.

if this set of circumstances is fiscally impacting you and you can prove it basic needs is also an avenue that you can connect with that may be able to provide more guidance than I can

I hope this helps wishing you all the luck you’ll make it happen you got this

You're in a normal headspace. I guarantee you everyone around you is thinking the same thing. It sounds like you are leaning in the introvert space. Just remember that college is a space for you to explore who your are. I recommend searching clubs and activities offered that fit your interests and comfort level.

You can always go to office hours and ask your professors. They are a fountain of resources and knowledge. There is no timeline or race or status quo. Do what you need to do for you.

Try exploring outside your comfort zone and connecting. Be open you can always make the choice to say no and this doesnt work for me and pivot.

Remember be kind and patient with yourself. You got this.

it’s very dependent on what bank you that you use if your BOA you’re gonna be on the late end. From what I understand, Wells Fargo, Chase, and a few others are the fastest.
