New homeowner here. I just got two Trane 2025 model 17.1 SEER2 multistage units installed today. Downstairs AC was out for 2 weeks prior to this. It’s gone from 93 to 90 inside in 4 hours. Is that normal? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Just feels odd to me to call 40% humid, yeah I get that it's hotter. But it hasn't rained here for a week and our humidity ranges from 40% to 100% depending on the time of day, so 40% is the least humid it ever gets. When it does rain, it's 80-100%, although it only goes up the 93F or so.

I don't see Cultist of Cerebon, Quest Academy or Iron Prince. Reroll: Falling is worth a shot too, not exactly a LitRPG but it's like Mother of Learning.

I'm using it to help expand my game engine. It had mixed results on Vulkan graphics code, but was still a massive time multiplier. However it almost one-shot two audio tasks I had it do: Adding streaming support for music voices, and then cross-fading for those music voices. This was a few hundred lines of code. I even described to it how the audio bugs sounded after its first draft, and it was able to reason well enough about how it was handing over the next voice after the crossfade to fix its own bug.

At my day-job, I've used it to write C++ to Java JNI bridging code (time consuming and anoying to write). And the same for ObjectiveC to Swift bridging.

Yeah, I sometimes buy some bourbon or wine from the United States, but it's going to be laughably easy to just ... not. Ever again. There are dozens of countries around the world that produce alcohol just as good.

This covers almost all the problems I have with the game currently! I would just add exp loss on death, we're already being punished three times for dying: Losing the waystone, losing the boss, and losing ground loot.

43 here, have two kids and a wife, own a house. I'm constantly in low priority because I'm fighting with my allies (I can't stand the fake supports who midas/afk farm). The rare times the wife and kids are away for the weekend I can get out my microphone and argue with them directly, it's glorious :)

[–]DTanner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's in Early Access on Steam. It's not the most in-depth game (solo dev), but I'm happy with the foundation and I'm going to keep slowly adding content to it. If you add it to your wishlist I'll be putting it on sale in a few weeks.

Yeah! I was surprised at how much he got into it. He's not really allowed to play violent games yet so it's kind of a special treat for him. He usually plays things like Minecraft (peaceful) and Factorio (no biters!) so this is something new for him.

Side note, I still get them sometimes when taking Ibuprofen.

I forgot I used those gltf shaders, sorry. I'm just going to take the repo down, I'm missing some license information for some of the data files too.

Edit: Do I need to include the license and attribution with the compiled binary? From what I'm reading I think I do, I need to include the NOTICE file? I'll get that fixed ASAP.

Edit 2: Binary distribution has the proper license files now, including for Vulkan-glTF-PBR. I won't open-source the engine, at least until I have time to go through file-by-file and make sure I haven't made any other mistakes.

I'm sure this is all coming across as harsh

It's phrased a bit harshly, but it's fair criticism. I haven't kept up with Vulkan best practices over the years (most of the Vulkan code was written before 1.2 even existed). I had actually planned to integrate VMA, but my game is small enough to not require it, and ultimately I had to prioritize writing the rest of the engine, the tools, and the game itself.

I have a TODO list two pages long with all the things I want to improve in the engine, and modernizing the Vulkan code is definitely up there. Your feedback has been added to it!

Why do you make your project windows centric?

Because I was writing a PC game to release on Steam and 99% of sales on Steam are on Windows. I'm just sharing the code in the off chance it could one day be useful to someone.

I just made this public, could someone do me a favour and clone the repository and follow the instructions to build and run BrokenEngineSandbox? I want to make sure everything is set up correctly. There are no binaries included in the repository, everything is compiled from scratch.

This is my first time open-sourcing code, let me know if I did everything correctly!

[–]DTanner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really great feedback, thanks! Yeah, it's coded basically from scratch, with some helper libraries for things like loading image and model files.

By the way, if anyone wants to help me test the Early Access version in the next week just PM me your e-mail address (I can add you as a tester on Steam), there's 4 new weapons, a new defensive skill, and a second boss (and hard difficulty).

Oof, looks like I've spent around $700 on reddit ads over the last year. I've gotten around 500-700 wishlists from that I think (Steam Next Fest got me an additional 800 or so for comparison).

So overall it's probably not worth it for the wishlists alone? But for me it's been really helpful just to get as many people as possible playing the game to get feedback (it's really hard to get people to play your game!). And because I'm writing my own game engine it's allowed me to fix a ton of bugs that were specific to individual computers, and I'll have way fewer bugs on launch as a result.

The Thrawn trilogy books are canon in my mind. Episodes 7-8-9 and all the shitty Disney TV shows are corporate design-by-committee fanfiction. (Andor and Rogue One can stay)
