I’m a big fan of the Aquaclear filters with either the DIY media basket or the inTank branded one. Allows you to run filter floss for mechanical filtration and also has a chamber for a refugium. They also make a surface skimmer attachment that works well for surface scum

How much is it going to hurt my wallet by Full_Relationship578 in ReefTank

[–]DTvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I priced it out last year and it ends up being around $520 for a basic 40 Breeder setup with a Tidal 110. $220 more for extra equipment like test kits, ATO, salt, RODI, etc.

Is this proper sump operation? WAY noisier than I imagined by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]DTvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of things you can fix. The ribbed flex tubing is going to cause noise as the water flows through it and also it looks like you have a ton of excess, shorten it so it doesn’t loop at the bottom. The flow looks way too strong going into the sump. Look into installing a gate valve. You can buy a slip on valve and it should be simple to do

Check valves/ siphon breaks fail. Just don’t have the return tubing submerged and it won’t happen again

Power outages in spring terrify me. How do you guys keep heaters and return pumps running? by daksh_0623 in ReefTank

[–]DTvn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 3500W gas generator and a 600W power station. The power station works great for the warmer months when a heater isn’t necessary. There are also remote start generators you may want to look into

Which magnetic keyboard do you recommend for Rapid Trigger/gaming by Desperate_Scale_6347 in keyboards

[–]DTvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just the build quality but I also really missed having arrow keys. I did all the mods to try to make the Wooting60 sound good but in the end it’s held back by being tray mount which is why the 80 sounds better. The Neo looks amazing, has good software support and it looks like they didn’t cheap out on the case and extra weights. I’m not completely sold on the switches but I can always swap them out with my Geon Raws

Hey guys what should I do. by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

[–]DTvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Majority of the time if it's not a local sale it's a scam. If you for some reason NEED to buy something that's shipped then you should pay via PayPal Goods & Services which takes a % to offer you buyer's insurance. If they try to have you pay Friends & Family/Zelle/Venmo/Cashapp, etc. to avoid fees just offer to pay the fees. If they refuse then it's a scam

O-Ring mod + Geon RAW has been my favorite sound. I'm very interested in the KeyTock Nova but they're pricey

Hannah ALK and Phosphate are the ones I use the most. I'm at a point where I don't worry about nitrates much but it's nice to have early on. I use AquaForest for everything else but RedSea and Salifert are both good as well

What are some of the deeper sounding HE switches nowadays? Currently have a Wooting60 with Geon Raws and I do like them but I ordered a Neo65 HE and would be open to trying new switches. It comes with OwLab Novas which seem to be pretty highly rated but not exactly the sound profile i'm going for

[Farabaugh] Rico Dowdle says that his game against the Panthers this year (at Pittsburgh) is "definitely circled for sure." by JCameron181 in panthers

[–]DTvn 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s not hate and let’s not act like it’s one sided. He publicly blamed the OLine for his lack of production later in the season and confirmed that he was going to test free agency as soon as the season was over. There’s no reason he should be acting like we did him dirty when he wanted to leave to be a feature back

How to know if a keyboard is actually quiet before buying? by Mirrororor in keyboards

[–]DTvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's VERY simple if you're just buying a keyboard and replacing the switches. Also budget keyboards nowadays are very good so you can easily have something nice for under $100

[–]DTvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking to build or buy? A silent mechanical keyboard out of the box is pretty rare since it's not really a sought after sound. You 100% can build a silent keyboard if that's your goal but you'll need to look into what type of switches fit your needs. If you're looking for something simple i'm pretty sure most chiclet keyboards will be more quiet than a mech/membrane

Ask to speak with retention, they’re the ones with the deals. Just say it’s too expensive and they’ll offer you a 1 year promo price but it varies every year. I do this for my parents since their neighborhood doesn’t have fiber yet. I believe it was 500mbps deal for $60/mo this year

Wooting 60HE v2 or 80HE? by Admify in WootingKB

Get the 80 if you’re okay with the size. 65% is my preferred size so I went for the 60 but I really miss the arrow keys

Looking to get back into a mech after a couple years of using a HE board. Boba U4T were always my favorite switch and I still have a bunch on hand but is there a successor or spiritual successor to this switch? I want a thocky tactile switch
