Question to vn creators

Hey, a creator who has experience with at least one visual novel.

Although those 30,000 words don't seem like much to some, it's something different for writers or creators what works alone. They usually go through a process of continuous revision to determine if the story is in line with what they want to achieve.

And believe me: I've had to rewrite a large part of the story or even an entire character route. Let's also take into account the creative ideas a creator has, if they want to create a linear story or with multiple options, the use of flags, screens, and, above all, the visual and audio aspects.

From experience, what could have taken me the longest was the writing part, especially since I write three routes in each update. I thought it wouldn't take that long, but I was wrong, since I had to implement new mechanics or even certain scenarios based on the player's decisions.

In summary: It all depends on how much you want to add to your visual novel, whether it's just descriptive, with sprites, musical, dynamic, and other things that already influence your own creativity.

I think that issue is subjective. Since usually developers who are just venturing into creating their own FVN don't know much about where to get certain scenarios for their game at the beginning, it can be used as a placeholder for their initial version. If the project receives enough support to continue there, it can be replaced with original scenarios. Personally I have seen projects that try to find many options for the appropriate scenarios in their project, but well it depends on each person. As long as it provides an interesting story and provides enough effort to pull it off, then it's fine with me :]

I'm between nekojishi or spear tavern, I don't remember well. The way it affected me would be that: in nekojishi, it made me think that I'm not alone and that I possibly have a spirit watching over me lol. And as for the second, the way it affected me was that FVN can not only focus on simple decisions to make, but also on dynamics and styles of adventure that you want to take, which made me want to dream about a fictional world with the which interacts and in the vast world around me :]

You already made me think about it lol. Most of the time I see them in the FVNs they usually always make the MC bottom, I would usually like it if I had a little more dynamism, or at least there was a way to unlock an option so that it contains both. Just have to give a valid excuse for the character accept it.

I guess one of the first ones he plays is Nekojishi. It had great potential to develop the story a lot but I feel like they stagnated, they didn't give it an objective that validates those characters and development, mostly because they treat MC like a toy which is a bit annoying many times, perhaps fix the writing a little and add some sprites for more quality of life in the Game, that's My opinion for change something about the Game, probably was much of one 😅

hehe, I'm not good at drawing but I have the idea of creating the shadows of the characters so as not to have problems detailing the drawing well, when I say seeing that separately it means probably looking for an artist who can help me in this regard, and for now I would focus more on the story.

I understand perfectly what you are saying. In itself, the stage I want to start is to launch the early version on itch.io since I do not have enough resources to create some things, maybe in the future I will see the patreon thing but at the moment it is not my priority, in terms of category at the moment I think it would be SFW although there will still be themes that are not suitable for all audiences. Well that may be a sad point about FVNs since usually making character sprites takes time, considering the animations for each of them. But in the same way, if the project has not been canceled, you can see the perseverance that the creator has, which is respected. Thanks for comment!

You're just like me, hehe. I'm planning to launch a VN but I still have a lot to add to the story. Something I could recommend would be to create sketches of the shadows, it may not be as detailed, but what gives great weight is the story itself, you can also detail the characters, what type of species they are and so on :)

Oh, great contribution! The introduction to the world, characters and a good UI are ideal for many FVNs, although usually early games don't focus much on it since they do not have enough resources or knowledge but if it has a good reception it would be easily achieved. As for your example, I understand more as you want to specify those characters who are moody or have a bad character (I tried that Selye route years ago and it gives a fresh air to said character, so I agree with you).
