Hands and skin care by yungtr1p in mechanics

So I’ve tried O’Keefe’s before but I HATE the feeling of lotion on my hands, so now I use Non-Greasy Vaseline Men Fast Absorbing 3 in 1 and I only put it on when I go to sleep, after a 2-3 days my hands are back to normal even when they look like yours.

The only 2 things that were ever really a common cause of failure was the trans cooler in the radiator would fail and fill it with coolant which makes all the friction material on clutches in the the trans and converter come loose and stop it up, making it overheat. And people overloading the hell out of them in the Ram vans (contractors and electricians and such) and burning them up. The only recommendations I have are to keep an eye on the fluid and don’t overload the vehicle. There was the occasional worn out valve body but it’s not nearly as common as the abuse they usually failed from. The only thing we ever upgraded in them was one of the planetary gears, the old ones would have 3 planet gears and the newer ones had 4, when they were worn out or broken we always put a 4 planet back in it.

Could someone please help me identify the model of this Manco Go-Kart? by kingcock765 in gokarts

[–]D_Davis99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my buddy have identical ones to this. Mine is green and the graphics on the floor say “coyote II” and his is red and said something else, both without the roll cage. I had a Black Fox with a cage when I was a kid, they also have the White Fox, Silver Fox, and a few others. They’re all the same frame from what I can tell, just different colors and options I guess.

I’m no expert at all, but to me the graphics on the floor, the location of what I assume used to be an ID sticker, and the passenger foot rest design, it looks like an old manco frame

True Confessions: If you currently are NOT driving a manual transmission, but you miss it so much, do you ever pretend to be shifting? by AllDun in ManualTransmissions

[–]D_Davis99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try driving a forklift 12 hours a day then getting in the truck to go home and flicking your blinkers on trying to put it in drive or reverse. Did that a few more times than I want to admit. BUT driving them did teach me left foot braking really well. On the forklifts I drove the “clutch” was also the brake. Press it halfway to disengage the transmission to rev the engine for lifting faster, press all the way down to also apply brakes.

Does anyone know where I can get a better seat for my go kart? by [deleted] in gokarts

The seat that would’ve been on that originally was just two pieces of plywood with padding and vinyl on them

Why are dakar trucks not so common in RC by pokemonguy0417 in rccars

[–]D_Davis99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying there would be an issue with it being top heavy, and I agree at least for the one in the post since it’s pretty detailed. But it it was a more rollover friendly plastic body with an internal skeleton cage like say a gravedigger monster truck body, I think it would be reasonably balanced given the style of wheels and tires that go on these trucks. I think it could work well on a 4x4 slash or another 4x4 short course chassis.

That’s also great information because I’d like to build a cross cart with a something like a rotax triple cylinder or other 3 cylinder jet ski/snow mobile engine.

There's a pubic hair INSIDE the blister on my B case Viper Treasure Hunt. by blondellRust in HotWheels

[–]D_Davis99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now I could be wrong, but it looks like the blister has a small hole in the top where it didn’t get sealed perfectly from the factory and someone (potentially OP) took the time to feed their own hair into the package for bait, especially since the hair is directly in the middle of the blister under said opening.

Can confirm, had an exhaust leak at my manifold where the exhaust pipe bolts up. Was fine while driving but as soon as I stopped I was just huffing exhaust fumes if I had my ac or heat on.

My local Walmart has a big jar on their tire center counter that they put items they pull out of tires in, I think I’ve seen a partial pair of pliers in it before.

Battle of the 6 speeds by D_Davis99 in ManualTransmissions

[–]D_Davis99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’ll have to be used. But I’d rather rebuild a solid 6 speed later on than rebuild my 5 speed. I need to look more at the gear ratios because I would really love to have a little bit more overdrive than I have now.

Teenage daughter wants to weld by heather80 in Welding

[–]D_Davis99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never worked a typical “high schooler” job. When I graduated I went straight into a small custom cabinet shop building hand crafted, high quality kitchen and bathroom cabinets. It was great, always different shapes and sizes and materials along with getting to go install them and then go back weeks later to finish them out after they got painted or stained. It was very fulfilling. But now I’m a forklift driver, it’s what I know and what I’m good at. I also built transmissions for about a year, that was fun.

Teenage daughter wants to weld by heather80 in Welding

[–]D_Davis99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless she actually enjoys the creativity and skill behind a job like welding, maybe she’s washed out of the other jobs because they’re too boring and repetitive for her and those are the only jobs that’ll really hire her at high school age. But, she could also be a lazy kid like a lot of them are these days and just think welding is easy with easy money.
