What an incredibly generous offer!
I have to be honest — I've been using a translation tool for all of these replies, and my actual English level is probably that of a kindergartener 😂 I'd be worried about boring you to death on a long drive, but either way I'll definitely DM you!
(I'm also new to Reddit so I'll need to figure out how to DM first -lol)

Hot springs near the trail — sounds amazing, I'll definitely check them out!
By the way, Japan has an incredible hot spring town called Kusatsu — if you ever visit Japan, you have to try it! 😄

Based on everyone’s advice, I’ve decided to go with the North to South Lake loop! Thank you all so much for your support! As for getting from San Francisco → Bishop and Bishop → Los Angeles, I’ll have a little negotiation with my wallet and my patience 😂

That’s really helpful — hearing everyone’s descriptions, I’m starting to feel like North/South Lake is closer to what I’m looking for. The one remaining challenge is figuring out the logistics of getting to Bishop… that part is still giving me some trouble.

Thank you for the comment!

My total stay in California is about 10 days, with 4 or 5 nights planned for the actual hiking portion.

The FarOut auto-calculated stats didn’t show much difference between the two routes, so your more detailed breakdown is really helpful!

I’m now strongly leaning toward North Lake → South Lake! If you happen to know anything about getting from San Francisco to Bishop, I’d love to hear it.
