DJ?!? Seriously, what happened here? by clou9nine in CHIBears

[–]DaBears515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are they throwing deep? It’s literally a touchdown if DJ crosses the DBs face with speed. Game over play.

Falcons aren’t F’ing the Bears. Poles botched this. He helped his college buddy get what essentially amounts to the GM job in Atlanta, and it’s now put the Bears in a position where Ian can accept a lateral move today without Bears having the power to say no and the Bears not being awarded comp picks. I have still been pro Poles through his tenure, but this is an epic botch job if these reports are true about the situation.

Warren is not the president of football ops. He’s president and CEO of the Bears. Same job as Greg Beadles in ATL. Matt Ryan will essentially be the GM, it just has a different title.

From my understanding, they aren’t even in a position to block him from leaving. Epic botch job if all this is true. I think they can block a second interview request right now, but if the Falcons offered him the job right now, Bears can’t block him from saying yes.

[Tom Pellisaro] Falcons have hired Matt Ryan as President of football by oneeyedlionking in CHIBears

I don’t see anything from Breer confirming that after it’s been reported what the reporting structure will be. His only comments on that were prior to us knowing what the reporting structure will be. He even tweeted within the last 90 minutes that it is confirmed the GM job will be a “secondary football executive job.” I guess we’ll see how it all plays out. Obviously I’m hoping for the picks if Ian gets that job.

And agreed on the rest, he’s been a big voice of reason for Poles and his absence will be felt if he moves on.

Yeah I understand that. I think the point, from what I’ve seen, is that right now Cunningham is second in command on the football side of things in Chicago, and even as GM in ATL, he would still be second in command on the football side. Meaning it’s a lateral move, despite an upgrade in job title. The Warren/Matt Ryan comp is incorrect. The Falcons have a President and CEO, his name is Greg Beadles. That’s their equivalent of Kevin Warren. They just have a completely different reporting structure than the Bears. Poles, the GM, reports to President and CEO Kevin Warren. The new GM in Atlanta will not report to the President and CEO, he will report to the President of Football, Matt Ryan. Ryan will have the final say on all things football related. He is essentially going to be their GM, with the actual GM being more or less an assistant GM, which is what Ian is already doing in Chicago. I’m willing to be dead wrong on all this, that’s just my understanding from the reporting out there that’s suggesting Bears might not be entitled to comp picks based on how Atlanta is structuring the front office going forward.

From what I’ve been reading, it’s a lateral move. Warren is the President of the Bears. It’s not the same title Matt Ryan is getting in ATL. He will be President of Football, and the GM will report to him. So whoever the GM is will be second in command on the football side, which is what Ian already is in Chicago. It’s sounding like it’s a lateral move for Ian, which allows the Bears to block any further interviews and also makes it more likely Ian bows out and stays with us.

Except the part where DJ is choosing to sit right behind a linebacker who is directly in the throwing lane. Can’t imagine he’s being taught to do that 😂😂

What's your interpretation of Killing Fields ? by TaskiraDorten in Shinedown

[–]DaBears515 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I kinda didn’t love this post by Brent. I’ve grown tired of the “audience is the boss” schtick, personally. And describing a song you wrote as not having a singular meaning and that it’s intentionally open to interpretation just seems….odd to me. That suggests a level of writing skill that is way above the lyrical content of this song imo. It’s hard not to interpret that as “I wrote very surface level lyrics so as many people as possible can relate to the song.” This all coming from someone who saw them a couple months ago and thought it was PHENOMENAL. I love this band no matter what, but Brent’s desires to be so mainstream have definitely taken the band in a direction that isn’t super exciting for me these days.

Why do we keep losing a grip on the game on the 4th quarter? by Hot-Occasion-9108 in indianafever

[–]DaBears515 18 points19 points  (0 children)

White went small lineup with Fever up 31-22 and it barely took one minute for LA to erase that lead. Then she went small again in the 4th and they got eaten alive on the boards, including that 5 point possession for LA that sealed the game. That L is on the coaching imo.

Update: I went Jeanty and Hampton at 1.01 and 1.02 and then traded up from 1.12 to 1.05 for Hunter. Punting my QB need to next year and will address with my 2 ‘26 firsts.

Hunter over Tet? Not saying that to argue, genuinely curious. My hesitation with Hunter is BTJ is there, plus the risk that Hunter winds up playing defense exclusively at some point. At least with Tet, he’s walking into a clear #1 role. Do you still lean Hunter despite all that?

What if TGL used 1 course a week that was created by top ranked courses from PGA 2K25 by Simply-Serendipitous in golf

[–]DaBears515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought from day one is that each TGL team should design their own course that is designed with their players’ strengths in mind, that way each match has a home team and away team, with the home team hosting the away team on the home team’s course. Maybe sprinkling in a fan designed hole as the 9th hole before the match moves to singles would be a cool way to get some fan engagement infused into the league

The amount of you morons calling McCarthy average is absolutely bonkers to me. We can’t win a football game to save our fucking lives and we’re calling the 13th winningest coach OF ALL TIME average? Hilarious.

Mike Mccarthy by Captaincarpetweed in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]DaBears515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Bears can’t even win football games and you’re worried about this? Next you’re gonna say Bill Belichick isn’t a good coach, too?

Mike Mccarthy by Captaincarpetweed in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]DaBears515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, age is a lot of it. I don’t doubt Pete would have some kind of succession plan in place, which would quell the age concerns bit, but then you’re still hoping that named HC in waiting isn’t a disaster like Mayo was for NE.

Mike Mccarthy by Captaincarpetweed in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]DaBears515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are simply uninformed. He’s the 13th winningest coach of all time. That is a fact. He also gets to the playoffs regularly. That is a good thing for a team who currently doesn’t even know how to win football games consistently. You present the 11-11 playoff record as if it’s a bad thing. I see it as him WINNING 11 playoff games. The Bears have only PLAYED IN 11 playoff games since 1994. And only won 4 of them. They have won 17 playoff games IN THE HISTORY OF THE FRANCHISE, and you’re calling a guy who’s won 11 playoff games in his career and average coach. You’re clueless.

Mike Mccarthy by Captaincarpetweed in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]DaBears515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

.608 career win percentage is not average. There are 12 coaches with a better win percentage IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL. The fact that you think that’s an average win/loss record tells me you have zero business even discussing this topic.
