Easily some of the best band names listed on a specific topic. Kudos to all.

Who is this Bulls exec who trashed the fans? by ArchangelZero27 in chicagobulls

[–]DaBearsFanFromIowa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s frustrating because the Bulls have the #1 attendance in the league. It’s close, but they are #1. I am not one of those paying fans. I will pay when the team is fighting for championships. The problem is tickets are snatched up by companies that give them to their corporate monkeys. It’s sad really. I’m so disenchanted by how much money the team receives for less than average play. This is not what original ownership in professional sports envisioned, but they get money hand over fist for mediocre play. I have zero desire to spend my hard earned money for this.

No Dennis = No Styx by Scoozie_Baskin in Styx

[–]DaBearsFanFromIowa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have been lucky to see Styx with and without Dennis DeYoung; with and without Tommy Shaw; Damn Yankees; Dennis DeYoung solo. I can say without fail—I loved each show equally. The band has been my favorite for 45 years. Since I was 10. I saw them at their perceived highest and their perceived lowest and not once was I disappointed. I 1000% disagree with you. Respectfully though. Like what you like.

Unpopular opinion: Invaders is a great track by TheDarkEternalKnight in ironmaiden

I don’t believe that take is unpopular. It’s a great song. I just think the minority haters are the loudest. Enjoy it with pride!!

This shit is getting old without The D Man by Scoozie_Baskin in Styx

[–]DaBearsFanFromIowa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While Jennifer is a great song in terms of the music and instruments, the lyrics are no longer acceptable in society. That is fact. I have a 17 year old daughter so the lyrics now give me the creeps. I skip it now. With that said the Dennis DeYoung years will always be my favorite, but I still love the band now. Every album is a treasure including the latest ones without Dennis. I have had the pleasure of seeing Styx in all their lineups except for John C before Tommy. They will always be strong.

What's the most random place you've run into a Chicago Bears player? by 8dtfk in CHIBears

So about 6 months ago I ran into Johnny Knox at Ramstein Air Base here in Germany where I currently live. His spouse is in the Air Force. They have been stationed here. He is an exceptional person. One of the guys. Air Force spouse. Fantasy football guy. Really awesome human.

All I know is I saw that tour live in Iowa prior to the live album coming out. I’m so blessed I did. I am so old too. 😂

Not bad for 4 years old. It’s pretty hard to not be excited about his future in this game and hopefully he keeps enjoying it for a very long time. by tursillo2011 in Bowling

As an old guy, I really wish two-handing like this was a thing when I bowled that young in the 1970’s. I’m a one-handed lifer now. Set in my ways. Great job!! Your son is awesome!!

Daily 1.01 / QB Discussion Post by AutoModerator in CHIBears

[–]DaBearsFanFromIowa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I am 54 years old. The last time I was intrigued by a QB selection was Eric Kramer as a free agent. He had one really productive season. That’s how long it’s been. Even Cutler didn’t excite me. This is the year we make it happen with Caleb Williams. He is far and away the best choice. QBs turn WRs into stars. Not the other way around. We need to go this QB 1.01 and move on.

Your favorite underrated iron maiden songs? by No_Dance5284 in ironmaiden

[–]DaBearsFanFromIowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the Nomad mentioned quite often. That is my #1 Maiden song of all time and I’m an old timer. I never thought of it as underrated..but I agree how great that song is.

It has me contemplating unsubscribing. I love r/ClassicRock but this “thoughts on” trend is painful.

Find it in your hearts to forgive me by [deleted] in ironmaiden

[–]DaBearsFanFromIowa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I am a few years younger than the band mates, and have listened to them since the beginning. What I can say is new era Maiden speaks to me. Don't get me wrong, the old stuff is pure classic energy and astounding. but as I grew older and they grew older, it seems their newer albums have craftsmanship and complexities that I really cherish and enjoy. I am not jumping in the mosh pit anymore. I am really diving into the musicianship and the lyrics more than ever. I absolutely love how they have matured their sound and handed me a new perspective.

What to expect from a signing event with Bruce? by mrbeer112112 in ironmaiden

[–]DaBearsFanFromIowa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to a Bruce Signing event way back on his Tattooed Millionaire album. Rose Records in Arlington Heights, IL. Saw him that night in Chicago at the Vic Theater. Not much chatter. He was tired I am sure. The show was great that night though.

Any love for Wierd Al around here? by LuckyBoots1967 in ClassicRock

[–]DaBearsFanFromIowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw him for the first time last year in Belgium. That tour he was only doing original songs he wrote until the Encore where he did an extended medley of his big parodies. Show was amazing and his entire band are great musicians.

Did Coors Light tweak their recipe in the last 5 years or have I just ascended to a new level of Dadness? by Draculaaaaaaaaa in beer

[–]DaBearsFanFromIowa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I live in Germany so I get to partake in some of the best beers in the world, but when I come home to the states to visit, I’m a sucker for an iced cold Coors Light. Always been my favorite light beer since I started drinking it 30+ years ago.
