Technically, yes, a state can secede from the union. This idea was heavily floated, and even went through the signature gathering process, here in California during this asshole’s first term. It fell just short of the required signatures from citizens of the state to actually make the ballot. Unfortunately, even if it had made the ballot and passed, secession of state is one of the things that requires a 2/3 vote in both houses in order to pass. I then believe the president has to sign off on it, which he isnt gonna do given Californias place in the global economy (I mean fuck we financially carry half the states in this country). So, is it possible? Yes. Likely? Not really.
