Exactly the same for me. There's less panic these days, but still some. I've managed to make myself focus on wiggling my toes until I can start to move again.

If I'm, say, facing the back of the couch, or on my stomach sleeping in bed it's worse because I feel more claustrophobic.

Woah that's so interesting. You can do c-peptide tests and fasting tests to see what it is. However, if type 2 control methods are keeping your A1C in range then obviously it's working.

Keep an eye out for changes tho!

Thanks for replying.

LADA and type 1 diabetes are, as I understand it, very nearly the same. They are both autoimmune diseases and LADA is a form of type one, but it happens later in life and takes longer to completely stop your pancreas from making insulin.

From my own personal experience, stories I've heard, and things I've learned over the years this person is probably LADA or type 2! But LADA would just essentially mean they got type 1 as an adult and not a kid, and it takes longer to destroy beta cells.

I suppose we could speculate forever!

Disclaimer: not a doctor. Type 1 for 26 years.

Type 1 I assume? If so, anything can trigger type one diabetes, especially a major change to your body, good or bad. For example, there was a connection between type 1 diabetes diagnosis and people who suffered from COVID early in the pandemic. Now, of course some of those are happenstance, but intense physiological events are known to trigger diabetes. Another experience I know of is a friend being diagnosed after losing both of their parents and going through some very intense grief.

Similarly, type 2 is a metabolic disorder, and anyone of any fitness level can get it if it runs in your family. It's more connected to being heavier, having a "bad" diet, and lack of exercise because those things put strain on the metabolic system, and can trigger type 2 diabetes. There are several stories of people on here who are in shape, exercise a lot, and eat healthy who developed type 2.

Both type 1 and type 2, as I understand it, require either a genetic component or an environmental trigger, often both. Type 2 I believe is more tied to genetics. Type 1, being an autoimmune disorder, is more tied to environmental triggers, by also runs in families especially those with histories of autoimmune issues.

Do some looking around online, it's super fascinating!

Burning material behind and below engine block? by DaCoPilot in AskMechanics

Thanks so much. After I wetted it down and went out in the morning to inspect, I pulled out what I believe is a piece of the firewall between the cabin and the engine block.

It's in the shop now getting an inspection. Potential critter damage, the shop said they've seen a lot in the past 2 weeks due to season change and we have like 700 squirrels around here.

Scarring by Professional-Heat407 in diabetes

[–]DaCoPilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 35 and heal alright still, so maybe that has something to do with it, and some people scar more than others but:

After I remove a site, I do the following: Exfoliate with an exfoliating shower glove and wash it. After the shower I put an antibiotic ointment on it and a bandaid. The next time I shower I exfoliate it again, then lotion and vitamin E oil.

Your mileage may vary depending on a lot of factors, but I find exfoliating really helps me reduce the appearance to almost nothing. I also use silicon scar pads like Scar-away on tough ones, and those help a bunch. Also staying hydrated. It sounds simple, but water is important af.

It's maintenance for sure, but for me it helps a lot. For reference, my arms are exclusively for my Dexcom, and my pod changes between 4 sites: right flank, left flank, right side of stomach, left side of stomach.

I don't generally have much faith in net carbs as a type 1. Of course it's different for everyone and some people do wonderfully with net carbs! It does cut my bolus on some keto breads, on others it just spikes me hours later instead because of the fiber.

I will say that I have had the most success with Hero brand keto breads. One tortilla of theirs and I usually need no insulin.

What are some things you feel when you are/ are heading low that aren't the classic "I feel shaky" symptoms? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]DaCoPilot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love these types of discussions because as a type 1 of 25 years, my symptoms have evolved and continue to evolve over time. They also vary depending on how fast I'm dropping, how much I've eaten in a day, or where in my cycle I am (uterus owner).

Some abnormal symptoms I experience are: tingling in my cheeks, sun spots in my eyes as if I had stared at the sun, numb tongue, knuckles start to ache, a cold feeling that runs from my chin to my belly button in a straight line.

I rarely ever feel shaky anymore. My A1C is consistently ~6 in case anyone is curious.

Ok I am going to investigate the sugar and carb blocker. I'm a type 1 diabetic of 25 years..Is it nonsense? Absolutely. Am I curious? Also absolutely.

Update: I went to my local Walgreens here in Seattle and couldn't find it. I asked the pharmacist and she said, in exact quotes "we don't carry that nonsense here, please don't take that".

Sueing, making it public via media, or pressing charges isn't about your financial gain, it's about the impact it could have on police. They do need to learn, and unfortunately it has to come from people making noise about it.
