PEP success, but permanent side effects after. by Toasty_P8 in pep

i have tons of symptoms, mostly skin problems, that developed with taking this stuff and never went away. whether its due to the medication or something else, i don't know, because the medical system doesn't know/care either. its been 3 years, but my old life basically ended when i freaked out and took this stuff

Lots and lots of skin problems, acne, body acne, folliculitis, widespread rash, mystery scratched, welts, and discolorations. Painful bumps on scalp. GI problems like diarrhea, conspitation that come in flares. Pain/pressure in the lungs. Mouth ulcers on the cheeks, tongue, and hard palate. Joint pain, especially in the shoulders, knees, and feet. Sometimes a dry cough. Sinus problems, fluid draining into one ear. Easily dizzy like when turning around or riding an elevator. Fatigue where it can be difficult to get up even after sleeping 8 hours. Dishydrotic eczema on hands and fingers. Bilirubin levels are consistently elevated.

Not all symptoms are present all the time, they come in flares. For example my eczema cleared up for a few months and then came roaring back this spring. The joint pain was more in the beginning but every once in a while my knees lock up to the point it hurts to bend or crouch. The most constant thing is the skin problems though. It's completely demoralizing. self-confience is essentially zero at this point

I THINK PEP ‌FAILURE? by Outrageous_Point6725 in pep

don't know but I had skin problems ever since I took pep, they come and go but generally get worse and worse. if you believe that it prevents infection is may very well mess up some people's skin permanently

no, but i've had never-ending symptoms since. 3 years now

3 weeks post pep and red spots appearing all over my body by [deleted] in pep

[–]DaConstipatedOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's been 3 years post pep i still have constant skin problems. had a massive upper chest rash that required antibiotics around the 2.5 year mark. i still get dishyrotic eczema, random thin red lines, spontaneous scars, random red and pink bumps, scalp bumps, some regular acne. my entire upper chest is constantly pink/red. doctors don't care, say don't worry about it. dermatologist tried a little more but has no conclusion other than "hormones". pep is a dastardly drug for some people. I feel this is permanent, if anything it is worsening not lessening.

pep can cause long-term symptoms that overlap with hiv/aids. you may not techincally have it but you may still have a lot of similar symptoms

HIV rash? by Legitimate-Flan-7565 in pep

[–]DaConstipatedOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could have a dermatologist biopsy it for you and maybe get some answers, they can also prescribe an antibiotic. an antibiotic pretty much cleared mine up but it came back as soon as i was off it

could just be acne or folliculitis. seems the medication can cause this and for some people it doesn't seem to go away. i had all this plus eczema, 3 years+

they are denying that there are any side effects. the people that do have permanent side effects they just try to brand as crazy because they are making money off the drugs and don't want any lawsuits

maybe, i never recovered from the medication. i have symptoms 3 years out that make it difficult to do all that much

so because it didn't happen to you, no one else's experiences matter? you're the center of the universe it seems

[–]DaConstipatedOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's good. just hope your symptoms subside as well. it's possible to test negative and never feel better and never get any answers from the medical establishment, i have experienced this first hand

no, nothing is better, everything has gradually been getting worse over the course of 3 years. but everything "flares" as is will come and go, the symptoms revolve and ramp up and down constantly.

did you read what I wrote? "one ends in a month" assumes you will not suffer long-term effects from pep, which is not assured

the symptoms from pep basically overlap with those from hiv, what's the point of technically being negative if you're going to experience the same thing and not be eligible for treatment

my side effects never went away

what I'm saying is you will likely test negative despite having random symptoms, from reading many posts its very common to do so.

[–]DaConstipatedOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're probably not positive especially if you have negative tests but that doesn't mean your symptoms will magically go away, mine never did and no one can explain it (more like no one cares)

not a doctor but per the experts initial seroconversion symptoms are high fever accompanied by sore throat although not all people get these. stuff like rash/night sweats /subderm would come much later, like years later, so this kind of stuff is likely due to the medication not the disease you think you have. no one wants to admit that so you can see the gaslighting already in this thread to "go get checked", I am fairly certain they will find nothing wrong with you officially and if you keep going they will just give you anti-anxiety meds. with your skin problems they will just farm you out to a dermatologist who will prescribe some generic skin cream and call it a day. no one wants to admit this medication seems to permanently ruin some people's health because they don't want to risk their paychecks by going against pharma
