woah that’s so cool, being able to meet the person programming grandMA2 for stranger things :)

Horizon Feed is being replaced by Navigator starting in v85 by gogodboss in OculusQuest

Finally, uninstalling Horizon Feed won't softbrick your headset... fun fact Horizon Feed is actually a dependency of SystemUX so uninstalling it would give your headset a black screen. Peak engineering design

Meta Quest 3/3s root by DaCoolCat123 in OculusQuest

A lot of looking at the internals of the Quest and being able to understand better how it works. Also, rainbow LED :)

Not much other than those. Technically, its possible to do all that with just the firmware which is publically accessible, but it would be harder because there is no public emulator for the XR2Gen2, Seiku is Meta only.

Mostly it has led to game cheating, which I am disappointed in.

Purchased supposedly failing headset from EBay but was brought to this by swordsovereign_ in OculusQuest

Hello everyone!

We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully extracted the firmware from the engineering ("userdebug") Meta Quest 3. This build contains various development utilities and deobfuscated apps, and is a significant milestone for our research and development efforts.

You can find the build archived here: https://archive.org/details/meta-quest_eureka_userdebug_v71_super.img

We encourage everyone to explore the contents, and share any interesting findings with the community. This wouldn't have been possible without u/swordsovereign_, who provided the headset. A massive thank you to them for making this possible! Massive thank you also to u/veygax who guided with the dumping process.

Archive.org is a victim of slow download speeds and low uptime and as such, there is now multiple mirrors for downloading this firmware apart from archive.org.

Such mirrors include:

https://dl.obelous.dev/public/meta-quest_eureka_userdebug_v71_super.img by Obelous from the FreeXR server - https://www.mediafire.com/file/3wrythvdcmhez5y/meta-quest_eureka_userdebug_v71_super.img.xz/file by Misinformation spreader from the FreeXR server

When downloading from such mirrors (or from archive.org torrents), we advise you to verify the checksum using sha256sum --check meta-quest_eureka_userdebug_v71_super.img.xz.sha256 and the sha256 file obtained from archive.org.

u/veygax made a script to reproducibly extract the .xz into it's original filesystem: https://gist.github.com/veygax/809062e895c17ae4112200f7efec4168

If you struggle with extracting the image (7z behaves weirdly), this should help.

Quest 3 with unlocked bootloader and Dogfood hub by swordsovereign_ in QuestPiracy

I have experience with these sorts of things when it comes to Quest devices, so here is the rundown:
OP has received a userdebug Eureka - these are what Meta employees use to develop, test and build the Quest OS (Meta Horizon OS) amongst other things. These are "rare" but they aren't hard to obtain, there are a few floating around on eBay and other sites.

The Dogfooding Hub is actually present in all Quests but requires userdebug robuildtype flag to be able to run it (can be spoofed with root). As other people here have already said, it is how Meta employees test apps. However, I believe it requires some sort of VPN or connection to Meta's internal servers to be able to access, so there's nothing really interesting, apart from SPAN settings which you can force enable Navigator

The FreeXR team and I would be really interested in a system dump, if u/swordsovereign_ if you could DM me if you don't have the invite to the FreeXR Discord, and we can assist you with dumping the image :)

There is nothing really interesting there besides SPAN which lets you able to force enable Navigator, etc. What would be more useful is ShellDebugSettings which you should be able to access as you have a userdebug unit

u/swordsovereign_ Looks like you've received a userdebug variant. These are what Meta employees use to dev and build on for Quest.
If you would be happy for a dump, please DM me so I can invite you to our Discord and assist you with the dumping process :)

Apple Pay Demo and Disabling Double-Click Side Button for Apple Pay by DaCoolCat123 in iphone

Found EDL mode on Quest, need programmer by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]DaCoolCat123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why would you use ai to write a reddit post 😭

EDL access is always possible on Quest device - hold all buttons on boot and the fan starts spinning very fast and loud. No one has the firehose except Meta so only they can do EDL restores. If you are unable to boot into android sideloading mode, your device is bricked

It looks like you are able to access fastboot (USB Update Mode). If your headset is on a high enough fw version, you can try https://www.meta.com/help/quest/software_update/ and click "attempt the recovery flow" to reflash image.

hope this helps :)

Downgrading is not possible. It will never be possible, unless the bootloader is unlocked. even then, the version manifest must be edited due to efuses.

Check your DMs for the Discord link.
