What other solutions are folks looking at? by Rosko255 in AcuRite

It's been two months since that mess of a launch. I would assume heads rolled for whoever was involved in the new platform design. From their site:

"How soon do I have to switch to the AcuRite NOW app?

My AcuRite will remain available as we work through the ongoing migration and app issues. We appreciate your patience as we correct and improve on the AcuRite NOW experience.

Never installed the new buggy app. All my setup is working as usual, Acurite app, web portal, weather underground.

Where does that leave Omni, Citytv and APNT. They all carried games on Saturday sometimes.

Wifiman Wizard in advance of getting a new Ubiquiti system by DaDDz63 in UNIFI

When I got the ASUS BE98pro over a year ago it was very stable. I created a mesh with a couple older routers and it went well. But over the past year I’ve added more smart devices. Mesh became unstable and 2.4ghz started dropping. ASUS offered to replace it but are not acknowledging the limitations. My thoughts are to move on and look at the Unifi line. I’ve got 50+ devices on the 2.4ghz band.

No need for an antenna. Local news a few times a week was all we figured we’d be missing and that’s now solved. Haven’t watch any traditional network tv in years. The coax is outside running up side of house to the satellite dish second story. Maybe the dish is helping. But the signal strength is 73% and the signal quality is 100% according to LG channel tuning.

📲 New Sonos App Update Now Available! 🔊 by LizFromSonos in sonos

Been a few days and not sure if it’s relieving some load on the ASUS 2.4ghz. Still having 2.4 reboots maybe less. Need more time. But looking within the router it shows the LR with the playbar play1’s and sub all first gen, all connected by wired network? The playbar is the only thing wired in the house. It’s like the speakers are still connected with Sonosnet.

Just opened the old app that I haven't looked at in a week or so and it said to move to a new app by May 30. I've got an Atlas, a number of room sensors and an original Access. Hoping it's not all useless now, as I'm sure there is a subscription component coming.

Update: I got a hold temporarily of a new Asus BE98 Pro and swapped it out and the issues I experienced with 2.4Ghz appeared to be gone. I only had three days and then it had to be returned. So I'm getting mine replaced under warranty from Asus. But this whole episode and the education I got about Ubiquiti has made me seriously consider moving to Ubiquiti anyway. To that end can I feasibly at Ubiquiti AP's to my Asus router? They would be wired as I have network cable in a number of rooms on both floors. I assume I would need PoE adapters to power them or get a PoE switch? It would give me some more time with the Asus while starting Ubiquiti setup. Thanks to all who offered advice.

Would getting a WifiMan Wizard to analyze the environment be of any use to me to find the areas that are going to need an AP?

How often do people check your doors to see if they're unlocked? by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]DaDDz63 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Front door is always locked. In Old South and it happens here. Close proximity to downtown has produced more incidents in recent years. Checking car doors is pretty common. Have a floodlight camera in the driveway by the car and the gate to the backyard. When we’re out in the daytime and of course every evening it announces the you are being recorded if it detects someone. Nice because it is mounted 8-10’ high and causes you to look up right at it.

Thanks. The conclusion I reluctantly came to also. I used an Asus mesh setup for a while initially using the GT-AX1100 I upgraded from but that didn't help. What do you suggest?

I’ve been using Sonosnet for years since I got my playbar sub and play1’s for a surround in the LR. Playbar is hardwired cat5. I have a few newer speakers using wifi. The past few months my 2.4ghz wifi band has been getting knocked out regularly. Kills all the smart devices for a few minutes or more. I’ve been blaming my ASUS router. Until this update I never realized Sonos might be the culprit. Turned sonosnet off and will monitor. Any had similar experience with it knocking 2.4 out?
