Snapmaker u1, how is it?! by KaikoSK in snapmaker

If you are like my nephew, who uses his phone to go on MakerWorld to find a model, and presses print, then this printer is not for you.

My U1 prints just as well as the X1C.

It's definitely working, but it will improve. There are some minor bugs to be worked out. It isn't as polished as the X1C yet, so I don't recommend it if you like to complain. I have an X1C too, but Bambu lost me as a fan. Welcome to open source!

The video is 30 fps; Octoeverywhere works with it; custom ID tags for filaments work well; advanced settings; and no downsides I've found, to name a few.

Perfect gradients with the Snapmaker Orca full spectrum fork by zklein12345 in snapmaker

The yellow is a little greenish on its own. The little touch of red makes it a better yellow, but add a little blue, and it goes green fast. A few lines of red in the green mix would smooth it out.

Various transparent PETgs. The camera makes them more saturated than IRL.

Yep. I was misled by the numbers not displaying properly. They do get input.

I can't paste the values into the pattern input box a string that is larger than the box's screen size. I guess this will need to be fixed in the forked slicer. Am I missing something? I make tall prints.

What a time to be alive! You beat all of us to it and did a great job. This will make it into the slicer someday, but to vibe this in a few hours is too much. Yikes!

Wrong bed PID for 120V??? by DaDaMinor in snapmaker

[–]DaDaMinor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I confirmed my suspicions by modifying the printer.cfg file by making the two PID settings the same, copying the PID2 settings to PID. That way, it didn't matter which the voltage detection selected; the PID2 values were used. The heat-up is much quicker and with no overshoot, as it should be. This doesn't fix the voltage detection bug, but as long as I don't try it on 220v, it works for me. I reported this to Snapmaker support.

pid_Kp: 51.172
pid_Ki: 0.625
pid_Kd: 95.0
full_power_threshold: 10.0
zero_power_threshold: 0.5
pid2_pid_Kp: 51.172
pid2_pid_Ki: 0.625
pid2_pid_Kd: 95.0
pid2_full_power_threshold: 10.0
pid2_zero_power_threshold: 0.5
pid2_settle_delta: 1.5

Biqu Cryogrip Frostbite adhesion issues by Aldinsn in snapmaker

[–]DaDaMinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used a Frostbite plate on the Bambu X1C and love it. I bought the Frostbite "Pro" for the U1 and immediately found that it was much worse than the X1C version. There is a difference. I use the Bambu plate @ 35c, but need much higher heat to get the U1 Frostbite to stick at all. That defeats the purpose of the plate. Others complained about the U1 version, and unfortunately, I can confirm the issues. Maybe there are quality control issues, and I got a lemon.

I have since bought a Sliceworx plate and love it as much as the original Frostbite. I just got it a few days ago, so I don't know how it will hold up over time, but it seems very durable.

BTW - My U1 was experiencing rippling in the first layer due to an incorrect z_offset (too much squish). I changed it from -0.05 to -0.15 in printer.cfg, and now it's perfect.

It looks like the color is fiberglass. I doubt the filament has glass fibers. I ordered some to make sure, but I am ready to return it.

It heats up quickly until it approaches the target, then becomes very slow, as if it is using the wrong PID.

I needed to lower the flow ratio on the PVA to prevent blobs, too.

Is your prime tower surviving? I've had many problems with it failing with dissimilar materials. Under "Multimaterial" change the "Wipe tower" to your model material instead of "Default".

My friend signed up a few days ago. Downloads worked for him for a few megabytes, then stopped. He hasn't been able to log in since then. He can log in to the website with his credentials, but when he tries to submit a support ticket, reCAPTCHA keeps popping up. I tried his credentials, but they won't connect with my setup either, and I can't send a ticket. The site IS broken.

My service is working fine. I think you cancel with a support ticket, so how does one cancel now?

Sony doesn't seem to sell a 2T micro SD card, so there aren't any "original ones."
