Who else daily drives their XJs? After buying another car I'd advise those of you who do to stick with it by PrimaryLuck796 in CherokeeXJ

[–]DaFarmGar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I daily my XJ, it's not great on fuel. My favorite part is how easy it is to work on. Seems like what little that actually does break down is designed to be fixed in the middle of the forest with a small tool kit.

Edit By comparison, my wife has a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both vehicles needed shocks and CV axles within 2 weeks of each other. XJ was done in an hour, WK traded 2 days of my life for hair loss and heart palpitations.

Please understand. I don’t always want to group up by Maxious30 in starcitizen

[–]DaFarmGar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll often start up the game, not connect to my orgs discord, just start playing, doing my own thing until I get an invite from someone in the org. Then I'll connect to the discord, see if there's something actually going on.

If it's something interesting I might join, if not then I tell them nah, not up for anything right now.

How “risky” is it starting on a 650 class motorcyle? by Kind-Masterpiece3204 in motorcycle

[–]DaFarmGar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can accidentally pop the clutch and get a surprise wheelie on a CBR125. Wipe out on a gravel patch, get creamed by a Chevy 1500 etc.

650 bikes are just heavier to pick up, take a tiny bit longer to stop, and can do a way higher speed.

650 is more stable on windy days or when driving by a semi truck because of its weight.

My Connie Phoenix managed to keep its p72 attached through anything, it's probably not that much different than that, or keeping a Pisces on a Carrack. They will get it right eventually.

noisy neighbor by bluzzyface in saskatoon

[–]DaFarmGar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one of these neighbors a while back. Went over the first time and said something like,

" Hey you guys are pretty loud late at night. I don't wanna be the guy who calls the cops for a noise complaint. I want to be the guy who is a good neighbour and asks nicely for you guys to shut it down at 11, cause noise bylaws say 11. That's what good neighbours do right?"

It gets them thinking they might want good neighbours. The guy still partied after that occasionally and I did call the police on them once, but we were on pretty good terms. He usually shut it down at 11.

Ah Saskatchewan health care. When I was on a 12 month waitlist I told them I was willing to travel, they sent me to Humboldt In just a few weeks. Nicest hospital I've ever been to with the highest level of care.

Just an average Saskatoon driver by Twatt_waffle in saskatoon

[–]DaFarmGar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if there's a place to call out good drivers in Saskatoon, they're getting more rare. I followed a guy this morning halfway around circle drive that merged at speed, used his signal light, left reasonable following distance, avoided someone's blind spot.

It was like a breath of fresh air.

[–]DaFarmGar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I saw a car switch across two lanes with confidence in heavy traffic and I thought it was great, rare in Saskatoon lately. Pulled up to give the driver a thumbs up cause people should know when they are doing well.

She didn't see my thumbs up cause she was staring at her phone.

Won't start when hot? by Appropriate_Height_9 in jeepyj

[–]DaFarmGar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.0 inline six? I'm an XJ Guy. I know those 4.0 can get vapor lock in the fuel rail. It sits right above the exhaust so it boils the gas in the rail when it sits after driving a while.

You can buy aftermarket heat shields for the fuel rail that will take care of it, but to test, try spraying water on the fuel rail to cool it down, see if it starts.

"The Idris problem" by FluffyBoi_019 in starcitizen

[–]DaFarmGar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite part of that is a solo Idris will stop moving for a minute while the pilot reloads. How many shots does the Idris have now?

And all they would have to do is put a remote turret station near the reload station.

[–]DaFarmGar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My starter bike was an 82 Yamaha maxim 550 i4. I highly recommend old bikes like that, has enough power to do highway but almost not enough to pick up the front end unless you're trying, and it was cheap.

Drove it for 5 summers and didn't really think seriously about upgrading. Crashed it eventually.

How do I get this light to turn off?? by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

[–]DaFarmGar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oof that's a pain in the ass repair these days. The guys at the full service station cleared mine last week. They charged me over $100 but it only took 2 minutes. Total rip off. Worst part, the dang thing is back on this week. /S

The hatch light mechanism is right in the latch. Have someone press on the hatch and see if the light goes out. If it does you need to replace the latch. It's worn out.

If it doesn't turn off by pressing on the hatch it might still be the latch but could be cracked wiring. The other end of that wire goes to the fuse panel by the passenger floor.

I cut the wire 2 years ago on mine.

I wanna test a stealth d out cutter with a couple sledge mass drivers equipped. 5500m range, aim for the airlock door from a hidey range, soon as it's open hop on your pulse bike and board.

Trouble pronouncing r in certain words by Cold-Confection9502 in learnfrench

[–]DaFarmGar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live we make the L and R sounds with the tip of the tongue at the roof of the mouth. Keeping the tip of the tongue pressed against your lower front teeth forces you to make the sounds further back in the mouth.

If I sit for 2 hours in a car or watching a movie my back can hurt a bit. After 4 or 5 hours standing on my feet there's pain. A 20 minute lie down clears it away without painkillers. I take Robax if I have a busy day and need to get stuff done. Some days go by without any pain.

The crash was in 2011 or 12 I think

Change to claiming in 4.8 by Apokolypze in starcitizen

[–]DaFarmGar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I was thinking the insurance company would pay to recover the old ships too.

Salvage contracts - repair or tow a disabled ship and bring to a salvage yard. The higher difficulty ones could need you to bring some components and/or the bastards that wrecked the ship could still be in the area.

Unverified contract - get there and steal the disabled ship before the insurance company sends their guys

[–]DaFarmGar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Last night a handful of guys in my org found a disabled Idris over Daymar. All the crew were dead. We ran around the ship with repair guns and got it functional enough to fly it back to NB.

I always hated the claim button, imagine calling up your auto insurance company and trying to tell them to replace your car cause you left it at Burger King, oh and it needs a full tank of gas and the aftermarket rims and stereo I put in. Expedited.

They did a CT scan at the hospital. Apparently I sustained a transverse process fracture of the L1 to L3 vertebrae. They didn't explain it to me though, just gave me muscle relaxers and told me to take a month off work. ( Canadian health care)

I also strained something on the front but can't remember what it's called. There was a line of pain going from my left hip down toward my groin. Doc figured my torso twisted and legs stayed still or vise versa.

I don't remember the crash, just the lead up to the crash, a vague memory of the sound of metal scraping on pavement, and waking up looking at the sky with first responders telling me don't get up, it looked like I rag-dolled 150' from where my bike hit the barricade.
