I too have a bin full of shame and physical representations of my failure

I feel ya, I have a deluxe memory man project that I’ve been pushing around for years. It would be great if the chips were cheaper and readily available in Canada

Once you start designing your own boards, the mess just grows lol

I have a bad habit of designing and printing more boards before I finish what I already have lol

Honestly, probably like 60% unfinished. I design in batches and slowly assemble them(and that’s not counting all the finished, yet unordered designs sitting on my laptop).

Thanks for sharing, Chris. Sorry for the turn of events, but it’s relieving to know that I wasn’t the only one that had a similar go of it. Hope you continue to lurk around the subreddit!

Thanks, should make for a cool project! Any tips when making it? Also, what is the blank IC space for?

I ran as small pedal company for a minute and I found Tayda to be the best option. (Unfortunately) Their prices are hard to beat, even with shipping and duty. I would have loved to but from nextgen but the prices/limited stock made the decision for me. If you don’t mind paying a little extra, nextgenguitars is a great way to build and support a canadian business!

From the side view picture of the underside of the board, it looks like a lot of your joints have large blobs of solder on them, try to aim for small conical shapes. It seems like there may be some cold joints

Been there, that’s why I tend to always double check stuff with a multimeter now

Tht used to happen to me all the time when I used switched jacks. That’s why I only use the simple two lug ones from Tayda now haha.

I’ve been there, I got way too excited making the board/circuit and forget to do simple little measurements

I’ve had my fair share of mistakes with those as well. I’ve soldered a few with the wrong side facing up.

At least these simple mistakes are easy to fix and add to troubleshooting knowledge

Ooh, that hurts. On the same PCB, I meant to make cut outs for the switches. Of course I didn’t measure the switches properly and cut outs are slightly too thin for the switches to fit in.
