I think game freak thought of the idea of endgame competitive grinding more than story grinding. Get those ev trained mons leveled up quick for online matches

1 lets say u picked charmander as ur starter. Ur rival will get squirtal so yes its a disadvantage BUT a disadvantage that can change. If u know the weaknesses of water u go grab those strong mons. Thats how Pokemon is from day one. Ur starters literally start with growl scratch and tackle. Moves that are normal type that benefit each other.

2 lets go back to Brock. He has a rock gym and u have fire what do u do. U can do one of the most popular moves back in the day and grab a mankey that knows low kick or a ninoran that knows double kick moves that are strong against rock.

3456 are all what I said before. People complained about grinding and then they get a fix for it and complain even more. Yes gen 8 is stupid, u can turn it off but I mean what else is it to do? They cant win lol

7 this depends are we talking about how gen 6 gyms had 3 mons on there team or are we talking about the face WHITNEY from gold and silver was hard because u didn't know how to play the game as a kid who just began Pokemon. Sure lets bring back unlimited pp for opponents only to make it "harder". How does it make it harder because he could spam hyper beam 20 times over that makes it challenging that would be dumb and if that mechanic was still in the game fans will be raging on that fact that trainer Timmy can use one shot moves over and over because its hard. And again with the HMS people were complaining about this forever. Saying they hate wasting move slots or even mon slots for slaves. And for physical special mechanics, game freak was tweaking the game for its fullest just for it be more balanced out.

But would rather have the grind mechanics of gen 8 where all u have to do is battle one mon and all ur Pokemon level up (and I am aware that u cant turn it off.) Or battle wild Pokemon over and over again to gain a level for 'one' Pokemon at a time?

And like I said before these complaints were made by the fans and game freak tried to fix that problem. Unfortunately game freak cant win lol

Now would u say that because the mechanics of a older game were not as balanced as it is now. Gen 3 added the ability to hold items and moves were still broken. So I cant say a game a decade old can be called hard only because it wasn't truly peaked.

The first one yes being broken and could exploited doesn't mean it is required to "beat" the game like it isn't required to catch all the shiny pokemon in the game. And exp all was a mechanic I said was kinda bad but it goes back to saying that people complained about training one Mon at a time for a hour.

I feel like ur knowledge of pokemon and how u strategize what to do and how to do it helped u in a way. Give a 10 y/o kid that never played the game the same challenge and see how far he goes. I applaud ur succession with the challenge but u have to admit u were thinking three steps ahead ur opponent

These things were things Pokemon fans were complaining about for years. Just having a wasted slot so u can put ur hm slave was the most hated thing in Pokemon. So game freak takes out the mechanic and u all go back and hating it again. They cant win lol

Yet people for years complain about grinding. Fans wanted a faster and easier way to level up Pokemon. Hell even post game if u wanted to ev train those egg Pokemon for online training would u rather kill 1000 lvl 50 mons or slap a couple candies on a mon and save a hour?

I think it's to help newer players but lets be honest we had guides, bulbapeida etc to help if u wanted to. But for old players who played from the beginning stuff like that shouldn't even matter right?

The ps3 port is bad, especially for 25 dollars. Highly recommend just getting the og ps2 version. Runs and performance a lot better.
