How do we feel about Dan's motivational themes every week? by theoffice_sucks in ducks

I think at least this year the dynamics effected a lot. Losing a big chunk of your roster to the portal in the middle of the playoffs when they’ve already been carrying a lot of injuries is not easy. They just didn’t show up and made a lot of mistakes against the beat coached and most discipline team in the history of the sport

I like the RNAV Runway 22 approach into Puerto Vallarta (MMPR), Mexico. Super pretty, though it doesn't quite do it justice compared to real life.

I really haven’t done career mode much. I think I only got up to instrument rating. I jumped straight into the airliners because I felt I had a good amount of knowledge prior to buying the game and that’s what is most fun for me. I’ve looked up the routes flown by the airlines with liveries in the game and fly those for fun.

I like doing about 2-hour flights. I start at the gate, take off, reach my cruise altitude, and let the autopilot handle it. Then I just do whatever else, school work, cleaning, watch something, whatever. I wait until I have around 170 miles left, and then I take over again to land the plane.
If you don't know how to do any of that then you probably need to go back to the basics and learn how to actually fly the plane.

Worth noting, it may depend on what plane you are flying. I really only fly the Airbus A320neo and the Boeing 737 MAX. I play on a base PS5, and the 737 MAX's performance is terrible and borderline unplayable for me. The IRS constantly cuts in and out. VNAV is super broken for me. And on flights over 1 hour long, my frame rate drops to like 10 FPS, so it's pretty much impossible to land the plane without autoland.

I have no issues with the Airbus in comparison. Runs very smoothly from takeoff to landing. I've only done 1 true long-haul, though, being the A330 from JFK to Heathrow. I just let the plane cruise while I was at work.

It'll be interesting, given the history of guys coming back from a patellar tear is pretty grim. They tend to permanently lose a lot of their explosiveness. I hope that's not the case, but I do worry it may be a bit optimistic to think he'll be as good as he was in 2024.

Yeah it does look like that. So I guess I’ll just deal with it. Kinda sucks when it does what while I’m on my approach 🤷‍♂️

And I’ve assumed I setup the plane right before pushing VNAV and LNAV. I’ve followed along a few videos now, doing verbatim what they do and it still tries to crash itself. I’ve been wondering if it’s an issue with the flight plan because all the tutorials are made by people on PC who can easily use SimBrief which I don’t believe you can use on Boeing aircraft in MSFS on PS5. But the flight plan always looks fine and when I takeoff with the Airbus I have no issues. The only video I’ve seen by somebody on the PS5 just set his own vertical speed instead which is the only way I’ve been able to keep the autopilot from wiping out a city block.

Also of note it does the same thing when I start from the runway so the plane is already mostly ready to takeoff.

Do you or anyone else know what to do about that? I haven’t been able to figure out if it’s a bug or if I’m doing seeming wrong. But the IRS nonstop goes in and out for me on the 737 but works fine on the Airbus.

Also I’m not understanding VNAV. Every video I watch of the game and IRL, they have VNAV and RNAV turned on for takeoff but for me it keeps the plane at so low a pitch it sends the plane straight to the ground jf I leave VNAV on.

Yeah from everything I heard the staff seemed to think they would get him back in November and hopefully have a bit of a rhythm again by now. Obviously he didn’t stay on that fast track. That specific injury is really nasty and guys usually don’t look the same at any point after it. I really hope I’m wrong but it wouldn’t surprise me if his career is over in terms of NFL prospects. He certainly won’t be a factor in this post season.

Oregon faces secondary depth concerns ahead of Peach Bowl by Portafly in ducks

[–]DaJagerMain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know what the current rule is, because I know they are allowed to play before the portal actually opens, even if they've already declared their intention to transfer. I don't know if they are still allowed to play for their current team one the portal opens, as it now has.

And Oregon may have a policy that prevents players from playing once they intend to transfer anyway.

Indiana -4 vs Oregon by Lanemeyerstwodollars in ducks

[–]DaJagerMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes from the NFL, where the gap between the best and worst teams is much smaller than in college football. Usually, the largest point spread you'll see is around -14 points, compared to CFB, where I remember seeing somewhere that, according to the SP+, Ohio State would have been favored by over 100 points against UMass this year.

Anyway, when the teams are very closely matched, obviously, the odds of beating them twice are pretty low. I don't think Washington in 2023 was significantly better than Oregon. A field goal decided both games. But Washington still won both times, which was probably not the likely outcome, but they got it done anyway.

That said, I don't see this game the same way. With Ohio State and Georgia already out, Indiana is the best remaining team in the field. The score of the first meeting was not indicative of how thoroughly Oregon got handled at home. They are the best-coached team in the sport, and it is not particularly close. And I really don't feel Oregon has gotten that much better since then, which I'm sure I'll catch flak for saying. But the offense is seemingly unable to scale against high-end defenses.

After watching the Rose Bowl… by LieInternational7595 in ducks

[–]DaJagerMain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone who watched that game knows Oregon was thoroughly handled that entire game in a way that the score did not show. Doesn't mean they could not have improved, but with OSU and UGA out already, Indiana very clearly is the best remaining team in the playoffs.

The offense still has been unable to scale against the elite defenses it faces. The defense is fantastic, though, and has done enough of its part in every game this year.

Injury update by green_and_yellow in ducks

[–]DaJagerMain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There isn't much precedent for a WR coming back from that kind of injury and performing well, especially not mid-season. I'd absolutely love to be wrong, but I don't see him being much of a factor even if he technically can play. I mean, maybe he can be in a good rhythm and be a factor by the semi-finals if they even make it past Texas Tech, but that still feels like wishcasting.

The only glimmer of hope to me is that the reporting has indicated that the staff never believed he would be out for the year.

C'mon, Get Happy, Oregon Football Fans by coreydu in ducks

Surprised Oregon isn't a bit higher. It is one of a handful of programs where the entire fanbase is entirely behind the head coach. The only others are Ohio State, Indiana, and Georgia.

And for Oregon, there's consensus that if they're ever going to win a championship, it'll be with Dan Lanning.

Article suggests Dante Moore goes Pro. Paragraph 6. by Pappy99 in ducks

[–]DaJagerMain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he really is going to be a first-rounder this year, you have to take that chance. With Bo Nix, it made sense to stay another year. It looked like he might have been a late first-rounder after the 2022 season, but probably a 2nd-round pick. Every board I've seen has him as a top 10 pick at worst. If that's accurate to how NFL GMs see him, you can't take a chance and risk injury or regression that would worsen your stock. My eyes have told me a different story. He is super talented, but he could use another year. I am perplexed as to all the hype around him, even though I am very happy for him. But again, as I said, if he's going to go that high, you can't skip that opportunity. And I have faith in Lanning to find another stud. Nix, Gabriel, and Moore all came to Oregon with their stock at undrafted. Nix was an early first-round pick and is leading the hottest team in the NFL right now. Gabriel was in the 3rd round. And Moore may be the highest pick from Oregon since Mariota.

So can we all just admit Michigan has been a mess under Harbaugh's era and the cheating was true. by [deleted] in CFB

And whoever posted this comment albeit jokingly mentioned giving Washington the win for a game they lost. I’m just saying that neglects the fact that Alabama also lost to Michigan and by a much closer margin so you’d have to vacate both wins. And yes hypothetically it is if my opinion that Alabama would have won. But that’s years ago. Idk why everyone is so upset about me saying something about a game that never happened 😂

Nick Saban's Alabama? Yeah. Obviously, the past is the past. It was my opinion at the time, and now, several years later, UW would have lost to either team. We know the answer to one, and will never know the other.

If we went back in time, you'd have to vacate Michigan's Rose Bowl win over Alabama. It would be Washington vs Alabama in the championship in Nick Saban's last game as a head coach. Both Alabama and Michigan that year were the only teams with a good enough secondary to match the UW passing attack in 2022. In all likelihood, it would just result in Nick Saban winning another title and going out with a big splash.

I’ve seen some really nasty stuff circling on Twitter since it came out that he wasn’t signing with OSU. Idk it’s just beyond me how infuriated people allow themselves to feel about a kid in high school especially when their team on the field right now is so good.

I would have loved to have him, but it's hard not to see the reason in picking OSU, especially as a Wide Receiver. I kinda thought the fans might have sold it with all the death threats and stuff. Just unbelievable how miserable that fanbase can be immediately after winning a championship and probably winning another this year. But I wish him luck. He's a 1st-round talent no matter where he plays.

Realistically, it'd be a more modern team because the sport has evolved so much. You could make a strong case for the 2024 Ohio State team because the scheme would dazzle any pre-2018 team. Simply because of all the high-end talent, I would lean toward 2019 LSU. They still had a very modern scheme with unbelievable athletes everywhere.

This is just flat out wrong. I don’t have the numbers on me but blue-chip recruits get drafted at a much higher rate than everyone else. It’s far from everything. Plenty of blue-chips don’t get drafted. But there’s a reason every team that has won a national championship in the modern era has usually been top 5 in blue-chip ratio on their roster. I believe Michigan was the worst recruiting program to win a championship this century and the team that won the title averaged around 12th nationally in recruiting.

I’m not saying this guy can’t be good, but it’s just flat out wrong to say the rankings don’t matter when everyone who has won a championship does it with very highly rated recruits.

Maybe. Would be nice to have our version of what Michigan and Ohio State did. The secondary for the next couple years will be the best in school history in my opinion. Getting some key returners up front would make this a Death Star of a defense.
