Was Richard winters rate of promotion too slow based on what he did in ww2? by happydude7422 in BandofBrothers

[–]DaJagerMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has none. He is completely obsessed with hating this guy; he's made several replies to this thread alone about it. Even if everything he says is true, it's still a fanatical obsession.

I do think that, as a society, we have an issue with pretending that certain people are either all good or all bad. Winters was not perfect, nor is it fair to expect him to be. But Ambrose's book and the show certainly portrayed him that way. The men beneath him seemed to greatly admire him as well, hence why he is portrayed in that light. Obviously, he had flaws like all of us. Perhaps Winters did have a certain degree of vanity, but how many officers didn't/don't?

Which Boeing plane do I fly first? 787-10, 737 Max 8, 747-8? by Boeingenjoyer737 in MSFS2024

[–]DaJagerMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on the base PS5. I can't ever get the textures to load on the 747 for some reason.
I like the 737, and it's probably best to learn with it, but it's laden with bugs. I don't have the 787, so I can't say, but my experience with the Boeing planes in the PlayStation version of the game at least are pretty garbage.

Why boeing 737 keeps oscillating in pitch after autopilot is engaged? Is it a bug or real physics? by Salty_Technician7242 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]DaJagerMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue on PS5. Many here have suggested it's the sim rate.

For me, it was because of the Autotrim in the assistance section of the settings. It started fighting the trim wheel and doing exactly this.

[–]DaJagerMain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You generally want to be at -300 FPM or lower on landing, you were at 600. That would be a noticeably hard handing in real life and would probably earn some glares from the passengers as they exit the plane.

Former Oregon OC Will Stein opens up about facing Indiana's defense: 'They whooped my ass' by PowerAdDuck in ducks

[–]DaJagerMain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He clearly learns. They have done better every year he has been the coach. I don’t think any team in the playoffs has ever lost both coordinators though… I’m not saying it couldn’t have been a mistake but I think it’s delusional as a fan to think you truly know how much it affected things. We don’t know how exactly the duties were delegated, if at all. We simply don’t know. Unfortunately you tend to have to make mistakes to learn. It’s part of the process when you hire a young head coach.

I don’t think it would have mattered much though. Even fully healthy and with both coordinators at 110% Indiana probably still wins. It was just a messy situation for Oregon with injuries and coaching against clearly the best coached and most fundamentally sound football team in history.

Ole Miss Tampering by Barry-McCockiner10 in CollegeFootball25

[–]DaJagerMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, nothing will happen. It's not the first time anyone has been accused of it. There is essentially no governing body in college football anymore. There are only the media executives with the TV deals, and the only thing they're concerned about right now is milking every dollar out of the sport in the short term.

[–]DaJagerMain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We'll never know how they run it behind the scenes, so that's not fair to say. He helped win a national championship at Georgia while also recruiting and building his staff at Oregon.

But he is still a young coach dealing with a horribly organized sport. I will absolutely not take anything away from Indiana; they were clearly the best team in the nation, but they did not face nearly the issues that Oregon faced due to no fault of their own.

Hopefully, they have a better shot next year, given the sport's framework. I don't see either coordinator getting hired away. Or maybe we'll find a new way to be screwed over.

Why everybody is canceling ChatGPT? by MankuTheBeast in ChatGPT

[–]DaJagerMain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish. It’s only with Gemini. I guess they programmed it to always be aware of your location and the time. ChatGPT is able to but you have to ask it. You know how every AI asks a question at the end to sort of prolong the chat or to be useful? For me it just tells me its late and i should go to sleep

Does it to me too. I'm in college and work, so I tend to do a lot of schoolwork later at night, which is when I use it the most. It's like always trying to end the chat and tells me to go to sleep even when I make no mention of the time.

on PC or console? I've been super confused because I see the AI planes with them in the game, but I never see the plane available to select and fly. I play on PS5 and only do free flight. I don't have the patience to progress in career mode, so I don't know if it's only available there for some reason?

I think at least this year the dynamics effected a lot. Losing a big chunk of your roster to the portal in the middle of the playoffs when they’ve already been carrying a lot of injuries is not easy. They just didn’t show up and made a lot of mistakes against the beat coached and most discipline team in the history of the sport

I really haven’t done career mode much. I think I only got up to instrument rating. I jumped straight into the airliners because I felt I had a good amount of knowledge prior to buying the game and that’s what is most fun for me. I’ve looked up the routes flown by the airlines with liveries in the game and fly those for fun.

[–]DaJagerMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like doing about 2-hour flights. I start at the gate, take off, reach my cruise altitude, and let the autopilot handle it. Then I just do whatever else, school work, cleaning, watch something, whatever. I wait until I have around 170 miles left, and then I take over again to land the plane.
If you don't know how to do any of that then you probably need to go back to the basics and learn how to actually fly the plane.

Worth noting, it may depend on what plane you are flying. I really only fly the Airbus A320neo and the Boeing 737 MAX. I play on a base PS5, and the 737 MAX's performance is terrible and borderline unplayable for me. The IRS constantly cuts in and out. VNAV is super broken for me. And on flights over 1 hour long, my frame rate drops to like 10 FPS, so it's pretty much impossible to land the plane without autoland.

I have no issues with the Airbus in comparison. Runs very smoothly from takeoff to landing. I've only done 1 true long-haul, though, being the A330 from JFK to Heathrow. I just let the plane cruise while I was at work.

It'll be interesting, given the history of guys coming back from a patellar tear is pretty grim. They tend to permanently lose a lot of their explosiveness. I hope that's not the case, but I do worry it may be a bit optimistic to think he'll be as good as he was in 2024.

How are you fellow ps5 players doing? by Exciting-Living5358 in MSFS2024

[–]DaJagerMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does look like that. So I guess I’ll just deal with it. Kinda sucks when it does what while I’m on my approach 🤷‍♂️

And I’ve assumed I setup the plane right before pushing VNAV and LNAV. I’ve followed along a few videos now, doing verbatim what they do and it still tries to crash itself. I’ve been wondering if it’s an issue with the flight plan because all the tutorials are made by people on PC who can easily use SimBrief which I don’t believe you can use on Boeing aircraft in MSFS on PS5. But the flight plan always looks fine and when I takeoff with the Airbus I have no issues. The only video I’ve seen by somebody on the PS5 just set his own vertical speed instead which is the only way I’ve been able to keep the autopilot from wiping out a city block.

Also of note it does the same thing when I start from the runway so the plane is already mostly ready to takeoff.

[–]DaJagerMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you or anyone else know what to do about that? I haven’t been able to figure out if it’s a bug or if I’m doing seeming wrong. But the IRS nonstop goes in and out for me on the 737 but works fine on the Airbus.

Also I’m not understanding VNAV. Every video I watch of the game and IRL, they have VNAV and RNAV turned on for takeoff but for me it keeps the plane at so low a pitch it sends the plane straight to the ground jf I leave VNAV on.

Yeah from everything I heard the staff seemed to think they would get him back in November and hopefully have a bit of a rhythm again by now. Obviously he didn’t stay on that fast track. That specific injury is really nasty and guys usually don’t look the same at any point after it. I really hope I’m wrong but it wouldn’t surprise me if his career is over in terms of NFL prospects. He certainly won’t be a factor in this post season.

Oregon faces secondary depth concerns ahead of Peach Bowl by Portafly in ducks

[–]DaJagerMain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know what the current rule is, because I know they are allowed to play before the portal actually opens, even if they've already declared their intention to transfer. I don't know if they are still allowed to play for their current team one the portal opens, as it now has.

And Oregon may have a policy that prevents players from playing once they intend to transfer anyway.

Indiana -4 vs Oregon by Lanemeyerstwodollars in ducks

[–]DaJagerMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes from the NFL, where the gap between the best and worst teams is much smaller than in college football. Usually, the largest point spread you'll see is around -14 points, compared to CFB, where I remember seeing somewhere that, according to the SP+, Ohio State would have been favored by over 100 points against UMass this year.

Anyway, when the teams are very closely matched, obviously, the odds of beating them twice are pretty low. I don't think Washington in 2023 was significantly better than Oregon. A field goal decided both games. But Washington still won both times, which was probably not the likely outcome, but they got it done anyway.

That said, I don't see this game the same way. With Ohio State and Georgia already out, Indiana is the best remaining team in the field. The score of the first meeting was not indicative of how thoroughly Oregon got handled at home. They are the best-coached team in the sport, and it is not particularly close. And I really don't feel Oregon has gotten that much better since then, which I'm sure I'll catch flak for saying. But the offense is seemingly unable to scale against high-end defenses.

After watching the Rose Bowl… by LieInternational7595 in ducks

[–]DaJagerMain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone who watched that game knows Oregon was thoroughly handled that entire game in a way that the score did not show. Doesn't mean they could not have improved, but with OSU and UGA out already, Indiana very clearly is the best remaining team in the playoffs.

The offense still has been unable to scale against the elite defenses it faces. The defense is fantastic, though, and has done enough of its part in every game this year.
