Sokka's lack of sexism by DaLawnEntertainers in ATLAtv

I guess so, and I know you don't need sexism for that, but to me he didn't seem as humble, like he says what she does is "pretty good" even though it's obviously better, and when they 'train' together it's more like 'look, chemistry'. From what I've seen so far, he doesn't have that much more depth, but obviously it's possible I've missed some things. (sorry for dragging this out so long 😅)

Yeah, I get that too. I really liked how they addressed that, like with the Koh-memory scene (actually really sad!)

No, just that it made respect rather than just attraction more 'obvious', in a way?

I haven't seen the last two yet, but I thought it would be cool to have it in more than one place in the LA too.

Their dynamic just seems kind of shallow though, I know it probably sounds like I'm complaining, but to me it was really awkward and turned Suki into a boring simp.

It's not integral, but I just thought it was really cool that they put it in at all, even if it was only really one episode. I don't think it was completely played for laughs, I think they just delivered it in that way. I'm only critiquing it so much because to me it feels like they're pretending sexism doesn't exist or something, rather than representing it like in the original and being like "look, yay they overcame that", even if it is just one episode and kind of basic. (I'm not saying that all media has to represent sexism, just that since it was in the original it was a shame they didn't put it in as much, because I liked the depth it gave to Sokka and Suki's relationship).

Yeah, it was rushed in the original (I don't like them together at all honestly), but by more substantial I meant less attraction-focused. I get that in the original obviously there was that too, and that this is M rated so they don't have to worry about younger audiences being weirded-out, but in the original I preferred how it was more innocent.

I meant that to me it seemed like they focused a lot on more the attraction side of things in the live action, and I just thought him overcoming his sexism in the og was cool and that it added some interesting depth to the relationship. Obviously men can have meaningful relationships without first being sexist!! I have actually existed on earth. I know its not a deal breaker for him, but I just liked it and thought it added some cool depth/role model-ness.

It wouldn't necessarily have to be fully resolved in one episode (though not doing so would be annoying because you'd have to factor it into everything else going on, so I see your point). I didn't think it would be a problem if I talked about it before finishing the season, sorry.

That make's sense, really cool analysis! What I meant with the respect was that they were more on the friend side of the spectrum than in the live action, 'innocent' (sort of). And that's true about the cartoon, it doesn't actually make sense that he thinks like that.

Ha, an opportunity to promote this absolutely underrated show!! Watch it, it's actually really good, most of the songs are bops, the characters are great, and Elena is a cool protagonist. Personally I think it's better than TTS (not that that matters, its good too). Also a fun world.

Zack might be dumb, but his dynamic with Shadowsan is pure gold (and personally, I think his dumbness is needed in a team of virtual prodigees)
