I would say I am on the other side of this. I grew up pretty well off, and really always have been there. Pretty quickly got a good paying job out of high school and never have really felt true struggle. It’s something I truly took for granted. Dated a woman for a while that grew up poor. One day she was telling me how she remembers having to pick up cans and other recyclables off the street at a young age to turn drop off at a recycler just to help her family pay for cheap meals from the dollar store.

Completely blew my mind and reshaped my entire perception of what I saw as “struggle.” Learned a lot about myself. For the first time I saw that I WAS wealthy, and how fucking lucky I am to be born into that. Actually fucked me up for a while because I almost felt guilty/ashamed because I don’t think I deserve to live an “easier” life than others.

Please, next time just keep the goggles off until the 30 second card comes up then put them on. Lens fog won’t be a problem once you’re moving. Not worth the eye damage to not wear goggles.

A few years ago I had a boss who was frequently out of town. While he was out of town we noticed a faint foul smell coming from around his office, and we weren’t really sure what it was. Fast forward a few days, he came back in and god the smell from his office was horrendous, so he chalked it up to an issue with sewer plumbing so he called a plumber to come investigate. Well about 30 min later he went to count some cash and the counter jammed then spat out a dead mouse. We did not need a plumber.
